Stock frame turbo cam advice

Looking for advice on cams from fellow members with experience with gsc s1 and s2s. I have an MHI 18k with a cast manifold that will be going on the car in a couple of months and just can't seem to find what cams suit the Mhi best. The car will still be stock block on e85 and driven maybe 2 or 3 times a week once the Mhi is installed . Are the s2 worth the extra money and will it net anymore gains over the S1 being able to rev out to 8k even though the Mhi doesn't make much power past 7,500rpm?

I have the same build going, same Turbo, same manifold. I researched this to an extent last month. I decided on S1's. Like you said the 18k will run out of breath before 8000rpm. So no point in having a rev range that high. Plus the S1's will work on the stock valve springs. I also wanted no possibility of idle issues. Overall S1's will maximize a broad power band as a whole where as S2's will favor the middle and high end of the powerband

+1 for S1 on the 18k. Not worth the extra expense to go any bigger.

S2.

Should upgrade your cams and valvetrain only once and be done.

Alot of us eventually get bored and want more power. And eventually add a bigger turbo.

Those s2 will already be in there.

Its like putting a stock clutch on a car that is being modded.

I feel you man I've been researching this non stop for this past month or so and every time I tell myself go for the s1 I have others telling me to do it right by getting s2 the first time and I would I just don't see myself doing an engine build til next year at the earliest so the Mhi will do and I've seen a few hit 450 with the s1 which is my goal on e85

S1's are plenty of cam for a small stock frame turbo on the X. They're really enough cam for 600-700 on the X. English Racing makes 1200hp on S2's....

Other option are Kelford B's. They perform fantastic with stock frame turbos and you can barely tell you have cams as the idle is very smooth.

Would u guys suggest Kelford over the Gsc s1? I know I can make 430 with the Mhi and manifold just looking for that extra 20hp from the cams to finish the job.

The S1's you won't need valvesprings, and the S1's pick up 15hp on the stock turbo. So, the S1's will definitely find the power you're looking for.

The 214-B's, while they look like a good middle ground between the S1 and S2, will require valve springs.

For the fact of not needing valve springs, and you have relatively small gain needed to hit your current power goal, the S1 would be my choice.

Thanks looks like I'll be going for the S1 and I'll have some graphs and review of how everything goes here in March once everything is in and the tune is complete
