Strange Flutter Under Load While in Boost
Strange Flutter Under Load While in Boost
This problem just presented itself out of the blue. The audible noise sounds like a flutter or fan spinning of its center of gravity, its really hard to describe. But the only time it presents itself is typically in the 3rd gear just as I get into boost. If you're in the car and doing a pull in third gear it sounds like the noise is coming from between the steering wheel and the radio behind the firewall. If the car is not moving however the noise won't present itself even at 4 or 5k rpms. What could be causing this? What should I be looking for? all that good stuff, and thanks in advanced for your input.
Update
So now the sound is presenting itself in any gear during rapid acceleration while in high boost above the 20lbs. Im running a GTX 3071R with a built in wastegate could it be that the spring is worn and the waste gate is fluttering open and closed? This was my random thought of the day
Update 2
I've got the car kind of taken apart just intake and intercooler piping, but upon further inspection my exhaust manifold is only being held to the turbo with 2 bolts would an exhaust leak be that audible?
