Need help picking motor
Need help picking motor
I'm in the market for a new motor I was looking at map stage 2 2.0 short block and stage 3 head with gen 2 3576 turbo but now min it sure if that will get me where I want to be. The car will be a DD but I want a street beast. So my question is will a 2.2 big bore or stroker be better I'm looking for 650-750 hp and 500 tq ish it will be gas only no e85 here but I can run 110 Oct also going v-band over stock location is better? And I only have 17k to do it
thanks for the help, Jim

MAP is garbage. They're port work loses power, and their engine program is questionable at best. They also don't race what they sell.
If you want a reliable street beast, hit up the shop that breaks records, and then breaks them again- English Racing. All of the tricks they've learned to make the 4b11 go rounds at 1200whp get applied to their customer engines. You won't find a better 4b11.
You will need a turbo kit for your power goals, and the full compliment of supporting mods. With only $17k, that is a tight budget for the goals. I would get an ER sleeved short block, you could stick a stock head on it with S2 cams and twin scroll ETS turbo kit with a 6266 will do ~700whp on race fuel.

That's to funny just got off the phone with English and I think I'm going to say screw it and just buy the long block that way there I have nothing to worry about. $15,300 2.0 race and 2849.00 for the 6266 ETS kit sounds good to me

You're going to need bigger injectors, 1300's or 1650/1700's. And a single walbro 450 should do it on gasoline. But 1650/1700's and twin 255's will be the safest bet and you won't have to redo it.
I have 1700s now I got a deal on them a while back which lead me to this. The 450s are on sale right now for 100 each so I figured I'd get them just to give me room to grow

for gas, 1700's and a single F90000274 or newer F90000285 will be just fine. Keep it simple.
My build made 640whp DJ on E80 with the F90000274 just about maxed out past 8k rpm.
