A recipe:
  • Must be EvO9 w/MIVEC (stock turbo stock cams)
  • 1200cc or larger injectors
  • Full 3" TBE w/no CAT
  • 3" downpipe
  • Open cone intake
  • Electronic boost controller
  • Walbro 255 pump
  • 94 oct (much better off w/E85 if avail)
  • Tune on Dynojet
I think you will be close to 400whp but the 94 fuel is the limiting factor (more likely 380 on 94) (400 on E85)

Im from canada so E85 isnt an option. How much is this roughly and what would I need to change if this were an evo 8?

The parts would be approx: $1975.00 (USD)
The tune approx: $500 (USD)

EvO8 would likely need: Cams / Turbo & Tune & the above listing of parts

Also wouldnt I need to upgrade the UICP and LICP as well as the FMIC itself?

Yep, i mistakenly left that off. Its possible to produce good WHP w/out that, but heat soak can be a factor!

If you decide on getting an 8 or 9, its very likely many of those parts will already be on it!

Thank you.I was thinking the same thing. Everybody around here (in Ontario I've noticed) comes in swinging with 800-1000whp goals on these things when they don't even know how to gap a spark plug then get all twisted when you sit them down for a reality check on requirements and costs.

800whp isn't gonna be reliable or cheap day in and day out on a 4 cylinder.

Cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two.

Probably not, was just getting an idea of the cost to make power on this platform.

The even worse part is when they realize how expensive 800-1000 is, and ask for 600-700, and realize it isn't that much cheaper...LOL

Haha thats funny because its true people I know and talk too have these goals. I obviously want to do it right so fast and reliable. Can I get an idea of how much this will cost for 800whp? 20-30k USD?

Reliable is relative. Don't axpect an 800whp cylinder to go 100k miles if it gets used. And its still 30-35k.

Think about it this way, it's like asking for a 1600whp 4.xL V8. The fact that the stock block casting can even handle this amazes me. My stock SBF 302 would have cracked in half at 500hp which is like 250 outta the 4 banger. Luckily the market is saturated with upgraded domestic blocks.
