I would do a couple cruise shifts and 2 full throttle shifts, an odd to even and an even to odd, so maybe 1-2 and a 2-3. That would give you a pretty good idea.

okay here’s a couple. I did a few normal mode, full auto, coming to a stop because that’s when I hear clunking into first a lot. log 1-2 and 4+6 are coming to stops. Log 3 is normal mode on manual shifting. Log 5 is sport mode manual shifting both of those are going from gear 1-3/4. I did not do any full throttle. I have a cracked manifold and also realized today when I was looking into doing another fluid change that I put ATF SP 3 in the SST not SSTF-1 🤦🏻‍♂️ I did that at 100,000 mi. I’m at 117,000 now. Guess that could be why these issues are happening now. Idk how big of a deal it is but I know SSTF-1 is the only way to go and at the time I thought that was what ATF SP 3 was. Still curious to see how these logs look to you. Wondering if I should just dump this fluid and change it and see what happens or just dump the tranny out and rebuild lol I hate to spend all that money on fluid change if I’m just going to rebuild it because of damage.

Looking at log 5 first, the data seems off. IDK if it's the cobb not logging correctly or an issue with the SST. It's showing a spike in odd clutch pressure after you shifted to second gear and then a spike in even clutch pressure after shifting into 3rd. It's possible the Cobb has your sst doing weird things, that mbar 131054 is approximately 1900psi, your clutch seals would explode from that kinda pressure. So something is off with the logging. Everyone says to not use cobb so idk. But your log don't look similar to any of mine, however, all of my logs are in S-Sport and that does change the way pressure and slip act.

hmm so maybe I could try logging again in S Sport but I feel it probably will still log odd like that. So do you think my Cobb off the shelf map could be causing this or just the Cobb AP logs are messed up?

And what software do I need to log if I try something else to log.
can I just get any OBD2 to USB cable for this?

Honestly, I would look into replacing the Cobb with an open source tune using a Tactrix Cable, EvoScan is the logging software. Word is that the Cobb cannot account for certain things in the SST. You could likely sell off the cobb to someone, after un-marrying it, and use that to fund the Tactrix and EvoScan. If you find a tuner local to you, you wouldn't need to purchase the cable and stuff, but you would need it to log in the future if you want.

cobb confirmed this to be a scaling bug with this monitor. Planning to just change this bad fluid out and see what happens. If all good. Hopefully I’ll tune and be on my way and just hope the SST is okay for the near future at least. Thank you for all your help it’s greatly appreciated. May post again shortly to update. Thank you!

hey Robbie. Was curious what you think of this too… Jacks Transmission seems to be a pretty reliable shop but they sell a fluid change kit of Diaqueen fluid with this orange SST filter and I worry about using it. They stated they’ve sold/installed thousands of them over the years with no problems but I can’t help worry because it’s not OEM and I know everyone is huge when it comes to this SST with OEM. Kozmic also sells a filter replacement that isn’t OEM I noticed so wondered if there’s some truth to not needing the OEM filter. I know it’s my decision but curious on your thoughts. This is what came in my kit from them.

I’ve also now started my fluid change. (ATF SP 3 looks unchanged since put in). I counted the pleats of the OEM filter I bought last year from MAP IT has 19 pleats vs Jacks 33 pleats. I also found Kozmic sells that generic filter too in white (unaware of pleat count) and now found at the link below lancer shop selling “Kozmic filter” claiming more pleat counts too but it looks like jacks transmission filter. Very confused at this point.

Yes, you can definitely use that filter, I use the Kozmic filter, HOWEVER, I change that filter annually, no matter the miles I put on it being it is not an OEM filter. Something to think about, and you only lose a very small amount of fluid and can easily pour a little into the housing to make up for it.

Actually, now that I think about it, it is that time of year to change the filter, so I'll likely be ordering a Kozmic filter soon and can update with pleat count when I do. So I did the fluid change March 21 @ 51K, filter change July 22 @ 56K, so next filter will likely be April or May @ 59-60K

I don't know if this info will be helpful to anyone, but in my experience the sst will start to make a subtle hydraulic sounding whine when the trans is cold and the filter needs to be changed.

I know this because I ran a dodson reusable for like 80k miles. It clogged up much faster than a paper filter and needed cleaning between fluid changes.

Changed fluid and filter now. Clunking seems quieter at times but sometimes still the same. Up shifts seem smoother. Yesterday in S Sport fully warmed up downshifting to a stop, it made that whine you mentioned and as I downshifted from 6th to 1st. Also the car showed it selecting the next gear as I downshifted but it wasn’t up revving normally like it should during a downshift. Very odd. Almost seemed like a normal mode full auto downshifting to a stop. Still wondering if this thing is going to last much longer or if I should just rebuild it now before my mods and tune :/
