Evo X MR SST Issues

So my SST has been clunking into first when coming to stops. Not very horribly but noticeable enough for someone to look if I stop near them. This is in normal mode. The other day in S Sport in traffic I tried downshifting into first and it refused with the audible beep. I got to where I needed to go with no issue after that. Car Sat for 3 days and when I turned it on to idle for 10 mins I popped a ECU code P0134 and SST code P1876. I reset the ECU learning and drive 3 hrs home no issues besides the clunking I’ve been having. I notice that if I downshift more aggressively there’s no clunking sound but if I let the car coast to stop in like 4th gear then downshift to first quickly when almost stopped it does it. S Sport sometimes clunks into 2nd when downshifting. Any ideas? Take it in maybe or could be normal sounds? Now that the codes haven’t come back idk if there a reason to take it in. I’m over 100K mi

P1876 is first gear lock-out. Which could be a few reasons. Your 1/R plunger is failing. The mechatronic is clogged or broken or some other aspect of it is failing. Magnet could be out of alignment (tho 1 forks rarely fail historically). But it's not looking good in general with that code.

So idk much on this topic. All the issues you listed is it something simple where I could just have the dealer inspect and they could fix and I’ll be good to go for awhile or is it a situation where you’re better off sending the tranny in for a rebuild situation with like Kozmic because more and more issues will arise? I guess when you said it’s not looking good in general worries there’s more to it. Thank you for the info.

Do you still have warranty on the car? If so, take it to the dealer ASAP. That way warranty can cover, which will likely be a mech replacement or trans replacement.

Otherwise, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what the issue is without fully inspecting the transmission. The mech unit can be pulled and inspected while trans still in the car. If it's something with the fork or plunger/piston is failing, then the trans has to pulled, disassembled, and parts replaced.

Jacks Transmissions has some good teardown inspection videos on YouTube to familiarize yourself with the trans internals as well.

out of warranty. And I had plans to add some bolt ons and ecu tune and SST tune. Curious if you think I should put all that on hold until I fix my trans or because it’s acting “okay” might be safe to go forward. Jacks said to fix the trans first but because it isn’t popping that code back it seems okay.

I did nothing but reset ECU learning and it never came back.

So now that you have reset the ecu, everything seems fine and dandy? If so, I would hold off on mods until you are sure it's sorted.

yes it seems that way except it does sound like the clutch is going according to Jacks Transmissions. They said if the downshifting to first becomes more noticeable the clutch is probably going. I have had no codes for a week and half after resetting learning. So you think drive it around for awhile still and see what happens? If all good then mods maybe okay? I don’t want to rebuild the SST if I don’t have to but it seems like it could be soon too. I just don’t want to make anything worse in the time being. I mean I threw one 1st gear code vs some people losing 1,3,5 or 2,4,6 permanently.

If you have a Tactrix cable, you can log clutch parameters, like slip, pressure, speed, etc. This would give you better insight to your clutch's current state.

According to this list, yes it can! Once you do, post up some logging info and we can compare to my logging. (tho i am running the increased 7% pressure from EvoScan, but we can calculate that).

okay awesome. Is there a specific log I should go for or do I simply need to just log myself during a shift?
