While Building Boost, Weird Scraping Noise, Listen With Good Set Of Headphones.
Hey,
This just started to happen to me about a good number of weeks ago, I'm lucky to have a second card.
Now, if you start to build boost slowly. You will hear a scraping noise. I consider it to be like a baseball card in a wheel spoke, and or grinding noise.
I suggest you listen with a good set of headphones, and or turn the volume all the way up. You can def hear it. I'm wondering if it's the turbo, if so I'll just buy a used one to get me by. https://youtube.com/shorts/GE6fC9YMer8
On top of that, my buddy found out that my tcase is leaking, mostly dripping but I guess that's what you call leaking. The dealership here in Hartford that installed my new motor left a bolt out of the tcase.
Now if you look at the image you will see a sandwich-type part with four corners at the bottom left of the pic. One of those is missing,
Now, I bought myself a bolt from STM and I hope my buddy can put that in just to see if it stops the drip, if not, maybe there's a gasket or I need to RVT a certain area. I was thinking of having the dealership do the fluids for the TCASE and let them know something is leaking. Maybe they can figure it out.
I cant hear anything from the video.
on that magnetic inspection plate, just remove all the bolts and reintall with gray rtv. let it dry per instructions and fill with fresh gear oil
Hello,
Wanted to say thank you so much for checking out the thread and being someone who has gotten at me about this problem. I had a good feeling the video wouldn't do any justice since you only hear the damn exhaust. I'm running the HKS Hi-Power Dual Exhaust System. Well, I contacted a friend, and him and I will try to tackle this over the weekend. He, told me he has something called a bore scope and is willing to check it out with that. I did find a brand new unknown named Turbo for the evo x for $500 and some change on eBay. The only, problem is how long will that last. I'm actually looking at a few OEM turbos from the Facebook marketplace. Just to get me by.. I have friends who tell me to spend 1K plus on a turbo, but that means I need a tune, and I don't think it's wroth it for just one part. I want to get everything in all at once and then get a tune.
The two turbos have aftermarket wastegates on them. I do need a tune if I put that into my car right? If so, I'l just use the stock one which is fine.
The part that you said to RVT is it easy to get to, or do I need to drop the case?

oh wait. It looks like youre talking about the tail housing (not the inspection plate). That's actually sealed by a gasket. you can try to just loosen then retighten all the bolts and see if it stops leaking.if it leaks you need to get a new gasket, I believe you need to disconnect the front half of the propeller shaft to install the new gasket. its fairly easy. you're probably low on transmission fluid at his point so you should top it off
