Oil on turbo cold side intake pipe
Oil on turbo cold side intake pipe
Hey there, anybody sure what would be causing this? I just changed out the intake on my evo and found this, I did finish installing the cold air and the car is running fine from my butt dyno and the sound, I’m pretty sure it’s oil since it is slippery
You can get a bit of oil in the intake from vapors, there is a hose circulating air back from the valve cover to the intake.
That seems like a fair amount though. I would check the turbo for shaft play, the seals on the turbo may be going.

You can take the cover off the compressor inlet and put your hand on the nut that holds the wheel onto the shaft. A very small amount of side to side movement is acceptable, it should not move in/out. Inspect the blades while you have it open for any signs of contact.
Does it smoke at startup or under boost? (Another sign seals are bad)
I am sure there are a million videos on how to check it but it is a simple process.
