Sadly I do have a trick hip. One benefit of being old though - I'm ready to void the warranty on day 1!

LOL, sorry dude, that is ironic . Well, old or not, as long as you don't drive that Evo in the slow lane and one of your modifications doesn't include a cane integrated into door or bench seats from a town car - your ok by me .

P.s. how old are we talking about here?

About to turn 38. That's ancient in EVO terms. I can still run 5 miles, but yeah my hip pops occasionally and I have to limp for a few minutes. Happened once when I was running and let me tell you, that hurt like a mother.

I am 49 and don't feel to old to buy a fun car. I hate luxury cars. I will take delivery of an Apex silver EVO-X GSR in early January. I will be removing the rear spoiler to be less conspicuous to the cops. It does nothing effective until going very fast anyway. I have the SSS package and will add HID driving lights where the fogs are. We rarely get fog here in Utah. The HID auxiliary driving lights will help avoid hitting deer etc at night. Only want the stick trans, to me shifting is 1/2 the fun in driving.

Great to hear old-timer ! I just hope that i'm still buying Evo-like cars by the time I'm 49. I can't wait to hear your opinions after you get it. P.s. what all do you get with the SSS package besides the HID's? Thanks.

EVO for a 49 year old

I will be paying MSRP, a friend of mine owns a Mitsubishi dealership. Included in the SSS package is also the Fosgate sound system. No rap etc., Jazz, R & R, etc for me. BTW HID lighting for aviation and military applications is my business so of course only the best lighting on this car.

Good to hear. I sell Lincolns and Mercurys and I sware, I feel for my life every time I have to give a test-drive to an 80 something that should have had their license revoked 20 years ago. Its an ominous feeling of how much you appreciate life when you are sitting shotgun with a withered old shaking geiser that can't hear you when you say, "No, don't turn yet!" as they attempt to judge high-speed traffic when merging onto a busy road. The only thing i've got going for me is that they usually go for the cruise-ship that is the Town Car with a 5 star crash test rating. A car that is as afraid of technology and change as they are. Its nice to hear that even though you have not degraded into the hopeless slop that is the average Town Car driver, you haven't given into the "I should drive cars my age" mentality. When I tell my customers that I drive an Evo, they look at me like i'm from Mars. Then I tell them its a Mitsubishi and the old guys usually respond with, "What...like the Zero!?"

I'm turning 44 in January. Might have to get myself a birthday present! I was gong to buy an Audi A3 for a daily driver / commuter car but I just can't bring myself to do it. I've purchased 2 Evo's new over the past 5 years. I think I'll check out the X in January and then decide.

Too bad you can't get the Phantom Black in the GSR. I really don't want to go with the SST/MR package.

I still don't know the price yet either. I will probably be one of the first to know the official pricing. Best guess is I will pay $32 to $34K including the options.

I fly very fast and responsive aerobatics capable airplanes so why should I be any different in the car department ?

I don't like black, it was white or Silver for me. I like red but not good with cops, to conspicuous.

Okay, to the older guys here buying an Evo, good for you, you deserve it. I hope you enjoy the X in good health. For me I'm having a hard time justifying the price, remember the good ol' days when an Evo's msrp was like $28k? I miss those days. The X prices seem too high and are encroaching on BMW 335i and 135i territory. I know I know totally different cars, but I can't help but compare the two.
