EVO X pricing or guestimates!
Welcome to the real world and inflation. Cars are expensive. It's hard to get anything decent these days for under 30 grand. Anybody who expects MITS to release the next generation X with all the upgrades in technology for under 38-40k is kidding themselves. You just saw how Subaru raised prices and a loaded STI was 39k.
It's no secret that Mitsu is introducing the Raliart edition of the Lancer next year to replace the RS model in the US. As a result, this will put the EVO at a much higher price. In addition, the US dollar is and will continue to perform poorly in the trade markets until an increase in our capital gain index for at least another five points. This puts us buyers at bad situation: High demand + low supply + poor dollar value + 2% inflation + $100 (US) or more barrel of oil = bad times for us.
So here is the real question...
Why not get a 2007 Corvette 2LT or 3LT depending on the deal you can find for $35-37k (these deals are common and all over the net) with anywhere from 5-10k miles on it.
Then get a $3-5k beater car for the winter.
You end up with a chick magnet car (see thread, do you think the X will get me girls or laid or whatever it was called), your car will beat 95% of anything on the road in stock condition (400hp V8 muscle), you will get better gas mileage than the evo X, and you can do cool stuff like pop the top off the coupe in the summer.
You also get the beater car for crappy weather days and snow so that your main car doesn't get all messed up.
All for the same price as the EVO brand new...
for a guy who lives where almost all the roads are straight, and i'll be driving against all the american muscle cars in detroit... the evo is looking less and less attractive each and every day mitsu leaks zero details or the details they give are disappointing compared to the hype they were dishing in japan a few months ago.
It's as if mistu and subaru have done gone retarded.
P.S. you can get a decently equipped 2008 corvette for $45-46k , so for 5 or 6k more you can have a car that is world's ahead the evo in everything but corning... and the vette is no slouch in that department either... you can also get the benfit of knowing you spent $40+k on american made stuff that will help your neighbor keep his job

By the way, there is a huge glut of 07 and 08 Corvettes at the dealerships. You can get a base 08 for 38,000. They are all being sold at GM Employee pricing. I didn't like the noisy, popping, creaking removeable roof.
:wow:
i still cant believe that the sti will be more money$ then the EVO!! damn hatch back....looks clean on vividracing.com... they did a chargespeed bodykit for that car already!! i would for sure pay $30 grand for a EVO X
Without a doubt. I know a guy with a '07 Z06 that ran 10.7's at the track (with No2) and got 29.1 mpg on the way back home 4 hours. 6th gear is a rediculous overdrive, they get good gas mileage on the highway.
