EVO X pricing or guestimates!
Since this thread seems to have become about older guys owning Evos, let me add, my dad's 60 next year and he proudly drives an Evo VII GT-A.
Oh, and I'm 34 next year, and I've just ordered a X SST.

Okay, to the older guys here buying an Evo, good for you, you deserve it. I hope you enjoy the X in good health. For me I'm having a hard time justifying the price, remember the good ol' days when an Evo's msrp was like $28k? I miss those days. The X prices seem too high and are encroaching on BMW 335i and 135i territory. I know I know totally different cars, but I can't help but compare the two.
Yeah man, tell me about it. I'll have my degree in a few weeks and then its hasta la vista to this geriatric car sales sh*t. I feel like I'm working in a nursing home...except its slightly more lifeless and the pay isnt as good. I'd probably kill myself if I didn't have the internet.
I talked to my dealer right before Thanksgiving and he said they couldn't release official pricing, but that the GSR was going to start around $35K and the MR around $40K. Fully-loaded MR would be around $42-43K. Not sure how reliable that is since dealers usually don't know ****. But, another guy on this forum got the exact same information from his dealer. If you look at the cost of a fully-optioned Lancer GTS, the pricing I listed above kind of makes sense.
I think the reason the pricing has been delayed is that Mitsu had the car priced higher than the STI (which released pricing at the LA Auto Show). So, they're panicking now and trying to find ways to lower the MSRP to be closer to the STI. We'll see what happens.

^ I hope that dealer is wrong because I dont want to pay 40k for a mr and not be 6MT. iF ITS 37K for the MR then I will buy it.
Edit: Let me give my reliable source a call.

I think if asking dealers prices they are gonna high ball their guess because they would rather tell you it is 38k for a gsr and then when it comes out and its 34k they can be like oh even better. Also about the age thing my dad is 60 as well and constantly hounds me about letting him borrow my car so he can drive it. He tells me don't worry im not gonna beat on it..... Right!!! lol
Mitsu makes the new Evo slower, fatter, bigger, and more expensive and somehow it is going to appeal to a broader audience?? Why, because it is going to have a nice soundsystem and navigation? I don't know about that. . .
