Autoweek Price Speculation

Page 18 of this week issue of Autoweek (November 12, 2007) states:
"The car goes on sale in January in the United States, starting at about $29,000."

Granted it's speculation, but it's nice to see a starting price at the lower end of the specturm.

From what I understand, there is no RS for the US.

I'm not surprised. The 29K will be for a GSR base with no options or accessories, might as well be an 'RS.'

I heard otherwise but I am not certain of when. I would not be surprised if the RS version comes a year later, like it did with the VIII

Having autocrossed an RS for 3 years, I can say there would be a big difference. I would have killed for ABS.

Hell, 29k would be amazing. We've been hearing 32-35k for a GSR pretty regularly on the boards here. Of course, 29k seems impossible given that the US-equivalent base GSR costs more than that in Japan (direct conversion yen to dollars). Then you have to figure in transport costs.

If they can magically pull off 29k, I'll be first in line.

Edit: I looked it up from a previous post I made with the price conversions: The cheapest GSR in Japan is the equivalent of $29.8k US dollars.

Don't count on it guys especially with these morons in the government devaluing the dollar. Be happy if the base GSR comes under 40k with the way things are shaping up.

Not sure what you are asking...? Stronger as opposed to where you are located? The dollar is pretty weak across the board right now

The economy is doing poorly. We just saw a collapse of the mortgage industry. Buyer confidence is low. I also belive that people would like to keep their savings in a bank.

Personally, I am getting a fun toy for ~36k

I just got quoted $54k for a GSR with TC-SST in the Cayman Islands. Now that includes approximately 40% import duty. Without the duty it sits around US$38k for sort of a cross between the USDM GSR and MR
