Evo X Official Weight

This is confirmed by the Mitsu Rep at the LA Auto Show.

GSR: 3517 <----correction
MR: 3594 <----correction

GSR will be release in mid january.
MR will be released the following month.

He said mitsu didn't tell him specific Price numbers yet, but the GSR will be about 32ish and the MR will be 37ish. Mitsu told him both models will definitely be under 40 grand.

i still don't buy it until i see it in writing. i mean, how knowledgeable are these reps? you'd think dealers would be knowledgeable about the products they sell but often times we know much, much more than them.

also how'd you ask him/her? "what's the curb weight?" or "is the curb weight 33XX lbs?"

if you use an open ended question like the first example, he has to fill in the blank. if you ask a closed ended/yes-no question, he's just gonna say "yes" to seem smart and get you on your merry way.

either way i hope this info is true. there's been nothing but bad news with this car. power figures going down with every official release, weight and price going up...

My cousin told me the guy looked at his computer and showed it to him. At first the rep was about to say 35xx then caught himself. He said he didn't know why he was thinking 35xx for some reason. so he check the system.
My cousin asked him " whats the curb weight" he didnt use an open ended question. lol

Also the brakes on the front and back are now bigger on the GSR model. You can tell just by looking at them.

"whats the curb weight?" is an open ended question, that's good for us. and if he showed your cousin some spec chart not available to the public yet, then that sounds even better.

of course we're still not ruling out that the guy's an idiot and is looking at the japanese or canadian spec sheets...

still skeptical only because the X has been a consecutive bunch of disappointments...

Yeh It is huh? Since we have ALL driven it, and know so many people that have, We have such a good idea of how the car is.

Though we do know it posted times 2 seconds faster around the nurenburg(sp) ring than the previous EVO. But jesus its such a disappointment.

You get disappointed when you get on the internet and believe everything that someone types. Just wait for the official releases. I have not been disappointed one bit with the X. What more do you want? More hp? Yeah who wouldn't, I've not seen the figure drop below 295. Tq's still at 311. Want the car to be lighter? Once again, yeah that'd help but you have tradeoffs with the advanced awd system and such, but if the figures the op posted are accurate, you should be jumping for joy. Want a lower price? We all do. Under 40k is the same as the 8s and 9s.

Just wait for it to come out...

i'm a big evo x supporter but anybody would have to admit it doesn't live up to the hype that was surrounding it after the prototype x came out. 320 hp? remember that? all these rumors hyped up the car up so high that when it finally came out we were all disappointed it wasn't the speed monster we were hoping it to be.

official USDM numbers are 291 hp and 300 ft lbs tq.

this is the sequence of the falling hp numbers:

-early rumors/reports put hp at 320 and tq at 325. wishful thinking? yeah probably.
-then the JDM info comes out with 276 hp and 311 ft lbs. ok we didn't believe it because of the "gentleman's agreement" of 276 hp. but still 311 ft lbs is way less than the rumored 325.
-then we get 295 hp with 300 ft lbs when the journalists are invited to try the JDM X. ok gas differences and such make this believable.
-then the canadian specs and the LAAS info reveal it's actually 291 hp with 300 tq.

so we go from 320/325 to 291/300. IMO pretty disappointing...

That is significantly less than the official Canada weights of 3517 for GSR and 3594 for MR. If those numbers are legit, than that is pretty impressive. Althought, it does seem like those are too low compared to Canada and too close to the JDM weights...

Have you driven a EVO? Well I have. And I can personally say that if this car is 2 SECONDS FASTER around the track than a 9, Its gonna be one hell of a ride.

And we have all grown to love the fact that EVO's respond so well to mods. And the ease of getting stock boosted cars to make positive gains with minimial ammount of money. Give it 6 months to a year for AMS, Vishnu, Buschur and other shops to develop, and I'm sure it will be a monster.

Or you could just listen to the hype off the internet and not buy one. Which means im more likely to get one if your too busy sitting on your thumb.

3344 is the JDM weight (1520 kg), so unless the JDM version is exactly the same, that rep quoted you the JDM wt

Sounds to me like the rep is quoting from the Preliminary spec sheet ...

http://autodeadline.com/detail?sourc...43595&mime=ASC

... which clearly says those are the weights of the JDM spec Evos.

The final official weight of the USDM Evo will be posted here:
http://media.mitsubishicars.com/deta...73098&mime=ASC

I'd expect that the info will be available fairly soon, maybe even by the end of the day.
