Maybe you are talking about a Japan-spec STI because if I didn't know any better I am more than sure new US safety regulations will add 200-300lbs to the US spec STIs weight, just like it did to Evo X. Anyway, it seems the new STI was built more for straight aways as Subaru, to the best of my knowledge, didn't improve its AWD system from the previous generation, most of Evo X R&D went to the S-AWC which I am guessing makes Evo X a better cornering machine therefor faster at curves. It will depend on the track I think, if it will be a curvy one I think Evo X will pull away, if the track will have more straight-aways I think STI has a chance although we still dont know how well the Dual Clutch Transmission works when it is 100% optimized. Somehow I have a feeling that Evo X won't look that bad in this comparison.

No.

I saw the STi tonight and there is simply NO WAY you are gonna tell me the X looks just as bad as that little turd of a car. The STi better do 0-16 in 2.5 seconds and trap at 180 billion miles per hour to overcome is ghastly appearance. It is just saaaaad.

purely on looks i'd choose the evo X. when it first came out, i thought it looked amazing. now, not so much. i actually liked the previous gen STI, this hatchback is ugly.

I love the previous STi, especially the Limited. The new one is just a huge failure IMO. The X may be a letdown, but at least it looks good. The Impreza is just a lost cause and the new WRX, while slightly better looking, is still a step in the wrong direction.

Too bad the Volvo C30 isn't a fast car. That looks hot.

+1

Even though the performance is not on par with the 9, at least it doesn't look like ***.

If STI didn't look like ***, I would totally consider buying one.

Well, I actually think the new STI looks to be modeled after the shorter, more nimbler cars that normally win at the WRC level. I don't think it looks bad, but then again I like the small WRC hatch look...dunno, looks neat to me I guess. I think the Evo X looks better though as far as something that looks nice driving down the street without screaming LOOK AT ME! Don't get me wrong, it's still saying it, just more nonchalant like.

Right when I'm switching camps (from Subaru to Mitsu), it looks like the Subaru has the performance edge...sigh, just my luck.

First ever Evo to be comprehensively beaten by a Subaru. And I'm not happy about it either, since I'm getting the X.

How would you describe the previous STi though? That was a huge win for street and WRC as far as I can see.
