He said oh lowering the engine and having torque come in sooner isnt a performance upgrade. lol

shortening the overhangs isn't an upgrade, revising the dccd isn't a upgrade oh wells to each their own. i still see a better car

Sometimes these kids don't actually read what you type. They construct their own interpretation of what you said and then attack it.

For example:

Me: The new STI isn't any faster 0-60 or 1/4

Clueless newbs: Why did you say the new STI is worse than the old one OMG!!$!@ It has blah blah blah....

Me: I didn't say the new STI is worse than the old one - I commented on the objective performance data.

Clueless newbs: You watch too many movies. 0-60 and 1/4 aren't everything.

See folks, that's a straw man.

It's sad. I blame the public school system.

I guess he is talkin about himself, because obviously this is what he stated when i posted what upgrades subaru did.

Damn u.s. schools

Don't contradict your statements now.

performance upgrades doesn't mean 0-60 and 1/4 mile only

Hey buddy! Where ya been? I thought you were done replying to me!

Now, lets take a look at what you are referencing in the above post.

I bolded (for ease of reading) the things that obviously didn't help the STI's performance numbers when compared to their last test of the '06 model.

Regardless, I don't care about what is or is not a performance enhancement - that was never my point. I pointed out the objective performance data - nothing more. No conclusions about which car is better were being made. If you wish, you can keep attacking that straw man.

Braking 60-0:
'08 STI = 106 ft
'06 STI = 108 ft

MT figure eight:
'06 STI = 25.5 sec @ 0.72 g avg
'08 STI = 25.7 sec @ 0.69 g (avg)

Skidpad:
'06 STI = 0.91
'08 STI = 0.91

0-100:
'06 STI = 12.1 seconds
'08 STI = 13.3 seconds

1/4 mile:
'06 STI = 13.0@103.5
'08 STI = 13.4@100.5

That's with navigation, which was not an option in years past. Carr Subaru in Portland, Oregon quoted me $32.7K out the door for a base STI without the upgraded wheels and navigation option. That's only $700 more than what I paid for my '06 two years ago.
