STI Versus Evolution X... SOON !

Put a fork in the X its over.
Looking at Motor Trend's numbers, I wouldn't say STI fans should be happy either. The Evo got much slower so that makes the STI look fast by default, but it's actually not.
2008 STI: 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.4 at 100.5 mph
2006 STI 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.0 at 103.5
It was faster than the X, but still slower than the '06 STI.

2006 STI 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.0 at 103.5

too many factors go into 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, i wouldn't count the X out regardless of the numbers we've seen
Braking 60-0:
'08 STI = 106 ft
'06 STI = 108 ft
MT figure eight:
'06 STI = 25.5 sec @ 0.72 g avg
'08 STI = 25.7 sec @ 0.69 g (avg)
Skidpad:
'06 STI = 0.91
'08 STI = 0.91
I noticed this too....
0-100:
'06 STI = 12.1 seconds
'08 STI = 13.3 seconds
1/4 mile:
'06 STI = 13.0@103.5
'08 STI = 13.4@100.5
(check out the difference in trap speeds)
It seems like Subaru's goal was to come close to matching the perormance numbers of last STI, but do it with a little more civility.
heres the newest STI vid http://tv.carview.co.jp/mov.aspx?mi=2322
Well at least the X's IC is centered. Think I’ll stick with the IX.
Here's a novel idea. It's based on the premise of a capitalistic free market economy, which last I checked still exists in the US. I've seen a lot of people saying they "have switched sides (STi to Evo) on the wrong year" or they're "going to get the X, even though it sucks."
Why not boycott your preferred vendor until you get what you want instead of succumbing and settling for what they are giving you? No sales means no desire for the current product. A lot full of cars indicates that someone is not doing something right. Perhaps manufacturers will get their heads out of their butts and start trying to please the consumers. But for this to work, it will take a concerted effort, none of this “buying the car and then just complaining about how it doesn’t meet your expectations until you get the next version.” You're still giving them what they want (your $$$'s) with no reciprocation.
We’re in control here, guys and girls.
Hey, I’m no economist... it’s just a thought.

both subura and mitsubishi are reaching for a wider audience with their new flagships. the hardcore enthusiasts boycotting sales will most likely not have much of an effect.
having said this, i think both companies have done fine, these are still very capable perfomance vehicles and given a few generations, should evolve even more.

"All-wheel drive launches the STI through the wider 245/40R18 rubber now and this makes for demon starts, and our STI cleared 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and rendered the quarter-mile history in 13.3 seconds at 102.3 mph. Getting to 60 mph requires two deliberate upshifts (and pauses in progress), as the six-speed transmission has rather short gearing and doesn't change gears quickly, either."
