US Spec STI: Test Drive Edmunds

I have zero intention of getting rid of my IX, ever, but there's no denying that the new STi is one hell of a machine and I'd very much like to drive one.

I love my IX, and I've owned many DSMs for well over a decade, so I am a LOYAL Mitsu enthusiast... ok 4G63 enthusiast... but after looking at the new STI and Evo X, which would I buy? I would indeed buy the STI. It performs. It may be an ugly hatchback, but no one has ever called my IX a beauty either. If I was going for looks and comfort sport performance, I'd buy an M3 (big discounts right now), an Audi S4 (fat little piggie), or a Corvette (I wouldn't have said that a few years ago, but you can't argue with 11.7@117).

I would honestly buy this car if it was not so expensive!
nearly 40 grand is hard to swallow imo.
also keep in mind that it was running on a slightly cheaper tire. slap on some neovas or re01r's and this puppy would put stock 9's too shame!!

then get the non nav version...at 35k, its about the price of your mr

if subaru really cared about the looks, I bet they would not go with the hatch. They care more about staying competitive in WRC therefore they went with this style.
I for one like the way it looks. If you lower the car 1" and put some nice 18"Volks, replace the taillights with red lights, it will look HOT.
I like a company that looks to stay competitive in autosports and makes drastic changes to do so, knowing that average joe won't give a *****, and won't buy the car because of its looks.
Won't be surprised if I buy 1 as a daily driver..

Yea, that makes sense.
You're right about the 1/4 mile.
Comparing the two, per Edmunds:
0-60 4.8sec (STi) vs. 4.9sec (Evo)
Now let's look at the other test parameters:
Braking 106 feet (STi) vs. 116 feet (Evo) <gulp>
Slalom 72mph (STi) vs. 71mph (Evo) - a virtual eternity.
As a car does all of three things - accelerate, brake, and corner - the test data speaks for itself.
This said, the data cannot show a car's ability to instill confidence in its driver, its predictability at the limit, as well as its congruence with one's driving style. These factors, however, may not apply to those who live their lives 1/4 mile at a time.

I'd still like to drive one though.
