yeah this is correct....i mean the x is still gonna be a great car....i think people are just disappointed that it's not gonna be as fast or faster than the previous model.....i mean just a few more horses and i think everyone would have been thrilled....maybe by the time they make the xi or the xii the evo will satisfy everyone as far as performance and comfort

Actually, without any sort of evidence to back up any of his claims (many of which are just speculation or subjective topics), the author of that post is just providing an opinion, which you can choose to agree with or disagree with, neither makes it right or wrong.

I would disagree with it on all points. Number one, because he thinks that R&t/C&D/MT's opinion of a car is worthy of anything more than an entertaining read. Number two, he thinks a high 13's@100-102mph (optimistically) car is a beast. Number three, the RS saves only ~75lbs over the MR, so if someone bought it for the weight savings they would be disappointed.

Honda still makes the S2000. I'd call that a performance car. Hell, I'd even go so far as to call it a sports car.

The S2000 is........in need for an upgrade or cancel the car. Released in 1999 and no really significant upgrades to power or design. 2.0 to 2.2 wasn't much. Same 237HP just a lil more torque down low and still its a drivers race. It'll die out like the NSX. Rx-8 drivers have a similar thing going over there also.

350Z is a car who has always improved with each year. Good job Nissan.

it may not be an all out conspiracy or whatever, but i'd say mitsu along with every other manufacturer out there listens to what THEY, the magazines/journalists, have to say a million times before they'll listen to what some internet armchair tuner has to say. why? simply because if they say you make a good car, the people will buy it.

if i worked at a car company i'd be gunning for the win in the magazine comparos, not the win on the internet forums laced with fanbois who want unrealistic things that won't make me money.

I agree that the S2000 is at the end of its lifecycle. 2.2 engined cars trap at 100-102mph in the 1/4, likely better than USDM Evo X. S2000CR seems to be a really fun track car.

So you're saying that, because the S2000 has not received a significant upgrade since its inception, that it is not a sports car?

The question wasn't whether or not manufacturers listen to car magazines or if the listened to whats said on a message board. It was whether PEOPLE should put any worth what a magazine says, or at least take it with a grain of salt.

If you worked at a car company, chances are you wouldn't be there long if you were waiting for the car to win/lose in a magazine comparison AFTER it's already been designed and released for sale to the public market (prototype "tests" aside) to make your changes.

Anyhow, future Evo X owners enjoy your X's. I'm sure that 95% of people who buy the X will be perfectly happy with it, because its exactly what they wanted.

my point is that car manufacturers look to journalists/media for feedback, NOT to people like us on sites like this. yes they do product surveys and all the other industry product analysis but how many of us enthusiasts are included as part of that survey or product panel?

so when you say the comparos and mag article are "nothing more than an entertaining read" you're dead wrong. the car companies see the reviews and articles as feedback, not of the individual buyers per se but as a representation of the general public.

like i said, besides an all out conspiracy, mag articles generally choose the "right" car as the winner or at least 2nd place. sure personal biases come into play but can anybody honestly call the 3 series or the accord unworthy of 1st or 2nd place almost every time??? those cars are basically the benchmarks of the auto industry.

yes these are blanket statements but you get my point. car mags make their living by recommending the "best" car. totally subjective yes, but cars and car companies are made and destroyed by these articles. look at the big 3 for evidence of this. in a lot of the comparos they lose to the japanese and germans. how well are they doing now?

yeah...i consider it a sports convertible....i mean the accord v6 has more power...come on....it's just a sporty car not really a sports car

honda makes great cars...probably the most reliable out there...but performance cars is not what they make even though they make indy car engines....go figure

i mean why does honda put power into these cars like the acura rl (290hp) or whatever but in the civic si they put 205hp...?????..and the accord v6 with like 265 hp now.....just weird....families don't need to go fast...lol......they have the turbo acura rdx.....here's an idea....how about a turbo civic si or rsx???or a whole new sports car with a v6?.....never gonna happen...they don't care...it's all about reaching the rich business men and their wives...haha...all about the $$$$$$$$......our kindof cars are dying out...plain and simple....i mean rich people will go buy a vette or a viper or something like a porshe or ferrari or lambo.....the 25k-35k sports car doesn't sell a lot.....cuz it's a small percentage of the car buyers out there....so companies try to gain sales elsewhere.....

where did I write it was not a sports car? Honda dropped the ball for not doing anything to upgrade the s2000 powerplant in almost 8-9 years. Reminds us s2k owners about the NSX. It was the **** in 1999 now its almost 2008 and same old same old.

Because it's not the most powerful car in Honda's range you don't consider the S2000 a sports car? The Lotus Elise only has a 1.8l Toyota engine. Is it also just a sporty car?
