Ix Or X
Ugh, this is not an evolution enthusiast site, it's an evo 9 fanboy site. To the evo 9 guys: faster does not equal better. It's the total package, handling, braking, chassis stiffness, the kind of tehnology employed, etc. Isn't this why you bought your evo 9s and not a mustang cobra? Well, the ten is to the 9 what the 9 is the mustang. Stop being fanboys, grow up and swallow your pride.
Actually I paid less, yes it may be outdated, but it could still whoop the X in stock form.
So let me guess, you will pay more, drive something that according to AMS in one the recent article will probably not make as much power as the previous model, and slower? Man I am going to go out and trade up now.
Edit: Sharing a similar engine as the new Srt-4 doesnt quite do it for me.

Some IX owners are seriously bitter, and if you IX owners are so happy with your car why would you be even thinking about trading it in for a X 1 year later. Why even waste your time and post that you are disappointed with the car. Seriously you just bought your IX's 1 year ago so even if the X had 400 hp I wouldn't want to be the one to take the depreciation hit on my 1 year old car and get another $35k car.
To whoever said that it shares an engine with the srt 4, it doesn't. It shares the basic block, but everything else is unique to the evo. Put it this way, the 4g63 in your evo is also shared with the previous generation of eclipses, as well as the plymouth laser, and shares more of it's architechture with those cars than the new evo does with the srt 4. And for the record, mitsubishi has been partnered with dodge and sharing parts for a long time. The 3000GT, which was a badass car, shared the exact same motor, chassis, and awd system with the dodge stealth. The only thing different was the body style. And I will also say this, I'd rather have a motor that is shares a block with the SRT-4 than a POS plymouth laser. Say what you want, it only reinforces your status as an ignorant fanboy.
As an IX owner (for over 2 years btw, by the time the X is here closer to 3) I can tell you that I would love to see a fast and capable X. What irks me is that Mitsubishi basically lied, spewing a lot of BS about how they made the car lighter while in reality the car is MUCH heavier, a MUCH bigger gap than the weight gain of any previous chassis upgrade (III to IV, VI to VII). Then they also lied about performance, comparing the new Jap spec X to a US spec IX (no AYC, much heavier) and spouting it beat it around ONE track while in reality the car is slower in an apples to apples comparison. I am highly skeptical of future tunability as well, as I couldn't fathom any other reason to make the X slower than an IX except for the obvious possibility that the X engine can not be made to go faster easily.
I am still holding off my final judgment until there is a real healthy US production version comparison, both 1/4 mile and on the track, and until Buschur pushes the X to the limits and sees what the motor is capable of. And yes I can certainly wait for the XI or XII, but by that time there will be other cars competing for my money.

Did you read what you wrote? Please read what I bolded and try again. Actually it is supposedly slower in the 1/4 as well, but who wants to bring up that point. I prefer to be called Brian Spilner.

Hey how would you feel if you spent 32k+ on a brand new car and then 1 year later...? A car that; looks better, handles better, almost as fast as IX stock even (if X weighed in as much as IX it would be faster than the IX) though it has all the extras like nav, heated seats, nice sound system, the interior doesn't rattle like a neon SRT-4, stiffer chassis, newer engine (not a dinosaur), timing chain, cruise control, better brakes, oh I could keep going on. Let's see oh yeah the IX is faster that's about it. If they can make Honda CRXs run 10's I'm sure it will only be easier with an Evo X to put down better times.

With all the money people spend on here and tons of people taking the hit upgrading from 03-04 ->05 ->06 in addition to the thousands of dollars on mods, you suddenly thing people can't afford to jump to the X and that's why they are down on it? Thats sort of a ridiculous argument on your part.
The car is $40k, still shares the same platform as a ****box (please quit telling everyone how much higher quality it is -- you think the X won't have rattles?!?), and it's having a hard time breaking into the 13s. End of Story!
If you are happy with the compromises Mitsu has made, then buy one and be done with it. But don't ridicule the rest of us for not sharing your excitement.
