Evo X in Motor Trend
Evo X in Motor Trend
This is probably a re-post (so what?) but here is a link to the Motor Trend article on 2008 Evo X vs. 2008 WRX STI.
Their specs say the Evo X GSR weighs 3585 lbs.
But they chose it as the winner anyway. The link is to page 4 of the 4 page article
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...test_data.html
Also, they are comparing the Evo IX and X. Scroll down to the second pic. Does anybody know if this article came out yet? I don't read Motor Trend.

Picking the winner is a matter of setting your priorities. Or in the case of MT and all the Mitsubishi ads on that page, paying the bills (heh, that was low, sorry ... but there were several Mitsu ads on the page...). The STI is 10% faster 0-60, 5% faster 60-0, and weighs 6% less. The Evo has 5% more lateral grip and 2% faster lap times.
The STI has been out for several weeks and we know the tires Subaru chose this time suck *****. Did Mitsu do the same thing to the X? They're both softening things up.
At least the new electronic goo-gaws on the X seem to offset the 10% weight increase.
If Mitsu had kept the IX for one more year, I'd probably be buying one soon. At the rate I rack up miles on my car, it doesn't take too long before I'm ready for the next one. I appreciate what both the '08 STI and '08 Evo bring to the table, but neither one is calling me too loudly at this point.

+1 regarding the tires they chose
