Hadn't seen the first one, second is a repost.
Until they sort out some sort of launch control for the SST it's fairly futile doing 1/4 mile times with it. Interesting to note it still got the same time as the IX ....

i dont think the Evo guy can drive to save his life, the IX should have been much more competitive imo. in gear the IX seemed to accelerate the same as the old STi, so his slow 2nd to 3rd shift and a crappy launch gave the STi an easy win. fail.
new STi vs. X...yeah that's expected. the X blows in a straightline.

X blows in a straight line huh? beat the ix didn't it? not by much but it was at least in the same ballpark. The shifting in the X was so smooooth. I'd have to agree with the guy driving the X...."crazy" is right.
The JDM STI has different OEM tires than the USDM, that might be part of the reason why the STI here is slower than the JDM even though it's got broader power delivery with the 2.5L.

I accidently ripped the Motor Trend with the X vs. the 9 from the Dr.'s office yesterday. I keep seeing the same thing over and over with these reviews(aside from the same very ugly red, car). They start off with stating the X is heavier, only has about the same power, and all the creature comforts Mitsu had to put in it to keep up with what the car-buying public wants, makes for less performance. Then they go test it, and the car does really well. The case of the MT car, it wouldn't breathe on top, but still held it's own against the 9. I still wouldn't buy one, as I like the 9 behaving more like a track car, it has less weight to get rid of, and it didn't cost $40k .
FORTY-THOUSAND-DOLLARS ladies and gentlemen...
There are cars out there that have solidified themselves as $40-thousand-dollar cars, and they mostly come for Germany. Heck, my wife and I went looking at 535's, and we could have picked up an '07 for $43K. The 335, and the incoming 135 are less $$.
If for some reason you decide to spend $40k on a Mitsubishi, IMO, you're gonna take the biggest dump on resale you've ever seen. I envision the thing loosing $10k of it's retail value, as soon as the rear wheels cross the driveway. I think the car will sell, it's just gonna settle into a more realistic value, and the dealers are gonna be discounting them. Apparently the 9 even was being discounted below $30k this past summer. The X is positioning itself as a high-performance touring car, and it's competition is pretty strong. The competition also has one very valuable, undeniable asset. I-M-A-G-E. A rotating prop on your hood tells everyone you have money. Three diamonds on your hood does not. Don't think for a minute people don't consider this when buying a car. Especially those with $40k to spend.

Pretty much you need to live in japan for that comparo to mean anything.
those cars seam to be quite diferent from their US spec's. I have never seen a stateside ej20 hit an 8K redline ( and I have one!!!).

only jdm sti(like 10 different models) ej20's rev to 8k, regular wrx models out there are the same as yours, for the most part.
