Evo X Review: "The Inevitable Evolution"
I dont know - i'm still not convinced about the New Evo X. Heavier...looks like a freagen SRT4 sideways...Sure it has adapted an AYC and the new 4B11 - but come'on.. only 5hp gained over the previous one(IX)!?..they could've slap a bit more HP and Torque into that baby to much up with the new STI (Hatch-backyyy). but whatever... - i'm still a PROUD OVER-JOYED EVO IX MR-SE (FQ 320) owner baby!..

No, what
needs is a car that sells. Something the IX had a bit of trouble with. If the Evo survives, it will be because the X. The appeal for street legal race cars is quite limited. You may not like it, but that is the reality. The X addresses many concerns people had about the IX, so it may attract people who had previously written Mitsu off.
It does have cruise control this year. I agree that it is a welcome addition. CC saves me a lot of money that would otherwise be going to the state and my insurance company

.Appologies to all serious readers...
PS. Time will tell the difference... In a year or so, we shall know a lot better what "X" is really capable of. We shall see exactly how many "NET" new customers "X" will aquire. "NET" is key, 'cause "NET" washes to the bottom line...
Hope we revisit this topic in a year or so.
Untill then, I am staying off the "X" wagon.
I usually like new stuff. But not this time.
Could you please elaborate and enlighten us "X haters" on how exactly does the "X" fulfil the evolution line.
Evolution is one thing, transformation is another. I think the "X" should be called "The Mitsubishi Lancer Transformation I" instead...

[QUOTE=robi;5235093]I've put almost 800 road miles on a X we are using for adjustable coilover suspension upgrades The Stock suspension for ROAD driving (325miles) is MUCH better than any previous Evo I have driven, the closest was a set of KW street shocks with 5kg and 6kg springs...set full soft on the compression and slow on the rebound. That said I have lowered the X 50mm in the front and 35mm in the rear while maintaining stock travel and the customer wants a track car so we went with the heaviest spring rate the prototype KW V3 street shocks can handle at 8kg front and 9kg rear. I have driven the X for 440 miles with the KW's and stiff springs and it rides better than any CT9A or CP9A chassis Evo's..... and just as nice as the stocker (and I lost the NASTY wheel gap too!HA) The X's stiffer unibody and 2" wider track with room in the fenderwells for about an extra inch of track all mean this chassis can be superior at the track too. Give us chassis guys a bit of time to get the SAYC down and I think these new X's will be faster HP to HP than the older evos. (but making power is someone else's problem) As always ymmv
Now when this guy talks, lots of others should just quiet down and listen.
Hey Robi, what's up its Dimitre - I now have to post 50 times in order to post in the for sale section... How about guys that just want to do business and don't like to talk that much??? So now, I have to become a philosopher... Here we go:
The question Robi is apples to apples (horsepower to horsepower) which car is faster and more realiable (and durable), BUT, FOR THE MONEY. And you answered it - when the horsepower guys are done with R&D, we will know a lot more.
So for now - stock IX on KW's v. stock X on KW's at Buttonwillow - what is your prediction?

Driving one, it really is not that dramatically transformed from an evo. It feels like an evo. Close your eyes, and the issues would go away. Its not a prerequisite that an evo has to have a based out interior, or that it cant have some nice features. The fact that it has improved in these areas without loosing the feel is a step forward. What makes an evo and evo is the dynamic which is still completely intact. The only negative side to the new evo is the added weight, which i agree it could do without. The revisions in the chassis and suspension however more than make up for the weight.

Hey,
There's no question that all these computer aids help average drivers go fast. But where's the satisfaction in that? I like the satisfaction I get from drifting a car, not the idea that I paid for a computer to do it. In the real world, it's the SENSE of speed that satisfies. I don't want to sit there and watch the car do it. So, I guess I'll be happier with my IX MR. But my wife can't drive a clutch and we've been thinking that maybe adding an EVO X would be a great way for her to enjoy driving a fast, good handling car. David

the ayc is keep the car in the turn untill it gets to its own limit, then the driver skill coming on.
so that is why the argue there still : with or without it? But that is a pro level.
