EVO X and Ralliart comparison
Actually, to be realistic, I think the AWD, big grippy tires, 4 wheel discs and stability control gizmos of a Ralliart or Evo might keep me OUT of trouble. I can think of a number of times I've been close to really ****ing up when I'm driving hard just because I ran outta grip.
I would wait till the transmission gets put through it's paces, based on the info in the evom review, it seems as though the traditional 5-speed is the way to go if you plan on modding at all.

4wd w/ ACD, no AYC ect..
Eitherway, it's a good entry level evo for the most part?? I sort of see this as a way to get rid of the stock turbos on the X's when you get a new turbokit. Sell it to the RA guys? Its really not a bad looking car, just a shame they skimped on the AWD.

I'm sorry but there's nothing anyone could say or do to convince me that my next car should have a clutch pedal. I have spent countless hours researching and understanding why dsg is the future and one day will be the standard. Stock power, this thing should be invincible. Modded, only time will tell.

Can you find one bit of evidence showing the cvt transmission was ever designed or intended to be a performance upgrade to the automatic transmission?
Compairing a performance oriented dsg style gearbox to a cvt is laughable at best. Whether or not you agree with me about this being the future, it's hard to imagine a transmission could ever get better than this. Just my 2 cents.

Some autos can shift faster than any human ever could. If it proves itself sturdy (which is the current problem facing some autos) it could be a serious competitor. Id take a manual-control automatic transmission anyday (assuming it wouldnt explode)
I wouldnt be suprised if the new RA catches on. Its sort of like the WRX is to subaru. Theres bound to be a few big-hp players. I dont think its the ability, I think that the problem will occur when people drive it like it's a cast iron dogbox tranmission.

The ralliart doesn't use a CVT transmission, it uses a dual-clutch transmission. The big problem with a CVT is if something goes wrong, you have to replace the whole tranny. If you read the Evo X review on the front page, you'll notice that they recommend the traditional manual for those who mod their cars. I'll ask this general question, what happens to an SST transmission if the clutch isn't up to snuff for the power level? Will it simply slip or will the car try it's damndest to make it work thus transferring the stress to the transmission?
Have you ever watched a Mitsubishi lancer commercial? They clearly market the new transmission as being fun and sporty yet in all the tests it loses to a manual. I'm not saying the SST transmission isn't good but it's hardly the way of the future yet. I know I would never buy a sports car with anything other than a true manual.

You must know something that Mitsu doesn't.
