Evo X cross country 2000 mile impression
You're missing the point completely. I am pretty sure I have 25 times more seat time in my Evo VIII and Evo IX combined than I do so far in my Evo X! I am not some Evo n00b here that is hating on the old car. I loved my VIII and my IX and give them the praise they deserve. My VIII as it was modded when I sold it would crush both my IX and my X in any contest of speed. But the US stock X is faster on a racetrack than the US stock VIII and IX. Take off the X hater blindfold and read the reviews. The weight distribution is better, the chassis in substantially stiffer (this accordiung to Mitsubishi themselves) and the skidpad rating is kissing .99 totally stock. SAYC is something you have to experience. The handling is better because of all three of those things, but mostly because of SAYC.
Stop wastin' so much time typing in defense of the IX and go drive a X to see what the heck I'm talking about. Bench racing sucks. Internet bench racing sucks more.

but we recently took a trip up to TN for a Titans game... and i've got to tell you I hate the way TN roads are structured... lanes just disappear and split with no warning... I swear we got lost like at least once a day... But that was partially our fault, all my navigators were drunken!
Hmm, this is tough, Having a 335, fully paid off, I'm thinking about selling for a car which "talks" to me a bit more on the road.
Since you leased one, I think you know what I mean about how it sometimes feels like its floating over the tarmac.
But your comments about the gearing bothers me a lot, I don't want gears that short, it kills MPG and 0-60 acceleration.
Stupid question, but I actually know jack about tranny's, Is there any way, with say 3 grand ish, to elongate the gears?

I'm sure Shepherd or TRE have a taller final drive that will then make all gears carry to further MPH. This will help fuel economy and hurt performance.
If you like your 335i, I'd think long and hard before you make the jump. If I were in the financial shape to have paid cash for that 335i, I would have kept it. I have loved all three of my Evos, but test driving that E90 was the stupidest thing I could do, because now I have two loves in my heart- The Evo and lots of things Roundel.
I want a 135i so bad it makes me sick, but I have a daughter and really need the convenience of a four door. I'm sticking with the Evo, but you need to drive one thoroughly first before you make that final decision.
Hmm, yeah, this is not fun at all. I guess I'll wait till it is more readily available, then do some test drives to see how I feel.
In all likely hood, maybe just selling some of the mods off the 335 and buying a used 8 to have track days with might be the ticket? All I lose is my DPE wheels and I can get a weekend/track monkey for the shore and MotoX

Actually, you and I have something in common. Here's a little story for you. When I bought my IX from South Coast, I was torn between Electric Blue and Wicked White. I studied production and learned that WW was more common than EB. I thought the EB was way hotter than the old 03-04 Evo BBY, so I bought that.
To this day, I have only seen one other EB, but tons of other colors. And I spend a lot of time at a nearby Evo shop, so I get to see a lot of Evos.
Fast forward to this year and I was having the same problem again. I had been in a dialogue with Sam at South Coast for a little over a week, and he had cars coming in and going out really fast. He told me that I could have whatever I want, it was just about waiting a few days. No biggie for me, I was flying out anyway. I told him I was torn between WW and OB. He laughed because I told him I had struggled with this before with Electric Blue on an IX.
Pause for a second, and Dupont just announced that white overtook silver as the most common car color in 2008 in the USA for new cars. On the IX, silver and black dominated, especially at the end with the SE cars.
But Sam supported this. They have had quite a few Evo Xs go out of that dealership so far, and white is what they see the most. Sam told me that Octane Blue is the color he has seen the least. Its also a GSR only color and he said its a one year color. Don't know on that last part, but it would at least give you the virtue of having something that everyone else doesn't have.
I'm not hating on the white, its the only other new color I'd consider and white is total JDM racecar. Get what you want and don't settle. I freaking love Octane Blue, though. I hope whatever you get you will love too!

I loooove the Blue...now if I could just convince my boyfriend that WW sucks... Great read, great review! Thanks!
