Weight a problem for the X???

Just a little intro of my self.. this will be my first evo / awd turbo vehicle... i ride a 636 ninja and have a couple quads... as far as driving ive never driven anything faster then a nissan se-r... now with that being said anything i do say is just a guess or a opinion.... everyone seems to be complaining about the weight but if someone was to make an aftermarket carbon fiber hood and trunk what about would that save in weight... so far i love the car and could care less about the little bit of less power im sure the people who like the car and want more power will be dumpin in bigger turbos soon enough...

IIRC, the hood is made of auminum, so not really any weight savings there. I don't remember if the trunk is aluminum, but it's not heavy at all, so there would be minimal, if any, weight savings there.

I know the GTS has gas shocks for the trunk lid. If the Evo does too then I would ditch those asap!

Weight is something the X will always have to deal with because of the way the chassis was designed and the extra safety measures built into the car. You can put some carbon fiber panels on, but those won't help all that much. If you really want to lose weight in the car, you'll have to look at doing something more drastic to get the X down in the weight range of a stock IX. The X still does well despite it's extra weight. Handling seems solid and brakes are better on the X than the IX. Only place the weight hurts the X is in straight line acceleration and around a race track.
