Mustangs are easy and affordable to make them go fast in a quarter mile. Most of the car reviews can agree that the new Evo X handles better than the evo 9. But they can also agree that the evo X is slower than the evo 9 in the straght line. We get the point. Some magazines post higher numbers and other and some dont. Yes, 80% of the evo owners do not take there car to the track often and test out the true handling potential of the evo. And yes 80% of the evo owners that do race would race in a quarter mile that a track. 80% of the evo owners would rather spend money on intake and exhaust, ecu than spend there money on suspention. I want an evo becase i know it handles amazing and that is one thing i would not have to mod becasue it handles good enouoght for me. It is easier to add parts such as intakes, ehaust, ecu then to add coilovers, sway bars. It is easier to make a car go fast than to make a car go fast in the corners. most of the aftermarket companys make more parts that will add power to make you go faster in a stright line that mods to go faster in the corners.
I don't hate the X.. I just hate the fanboyism that a new car brings out in people because it makes them see things through colored glasses instead of reality.. that's all..

And the non-SAYC USA VIII and IX would get donkey punched in that comparo.
They also said the new STI was fastest of all. You know why? Because Tsuchiya was driving, period.

I've had all three Evos that have come to the USA and the X is by far the best one for a racetrack in stock form. Some of that is due to the chassis, but most of it is because active yaw control ownz joo.

Look in the mirror, the only hater I see in here is you. Have you driven an Evo X? No? Then turn off your video-rice-racer-excuse-boy-crying until you have some real data to back it up. If you haven't driven all three extensively, you don't know crap.

The USA IX and X might be close in lots of comparos, but they were both lots faster around a racetrack stock than your viscous center diff 03 model that has neither SAYC or ACD.

Any better scans of this article so we can read the whole thing? I'm assuming the R32 came in last?

Yep, I believe that. If any of the previous Evos had S-AYC then there wouldn't be much of an advantage to the X.

If I wanted an IX, X or any other car, I'd just go out and buy it (just like I did my VIII). There is no envy here buddy if that is what you are trying to imply. And I don't need to see videos to get an idea of track performance, I can just go to the track myself.

Big deal. When a X can leave me from a dig or roll on the street with the same mods, then I'll think about purchasing one. Until then, trying to demean my 03 center diff EVO for it's roadracing performance is a waste of typing...

Never disagreed there. But no matter how dumb it is.. it happens with most of these fast cars...that's just reality.

boosted, by reading your some of posts, it seems that you bought your evo to race from a dig or roll on street mainly. why not just consider v8?

Most V8s aren't AWD, suck up too much gas for normal driving and aren't turbo. I may consider a GT-R though. I just don't like automatics (even with paddle shifters).

Here's a better question - if the EVO is meant to be a road-racing track car, how come very few people do it?

I'm not into ricerbish street racing. My VIII had a GT3071R and a solid 100whp more Dynojet than your car, so I'm not impressed with your chest beating.

I am not saying you can't afford the car. I am implying that you are a hater and need to get off this forum and go back to the 1-9 forums if all you want to do is poop in the X. It gets old, dude.

That's because a lot of kids who drive EVOs have been influenced by the American culture and "F&F" (ie. all they do is drag racing, either to the "track" or on the street like yourself). And they do that with EVOs, because they are plenty fast right out of the box for the very limited budget that most kids can afford.

And for the pros that don't drive EVOs, that's because there isn't really any official class for them to run in. There are enthusiasts out there that use their EVOs for weekend road-racing or autox fun. You only need to go out to a local SCCA club or other car clubs that organize track events, and you will see people that use their EVOs for track.

Good call on V8's and AWD, but the gas comment is off the mark. Most N/A V8 cars get better gas mileage than the turbo-4 AWD creatures. It's difficult to get around that -- boosted motors are never going to be as efficient as a high compression N/A motor, and AWD makes it even worse.

Here's a better question - if the EVO is meant to be a road-racing track car, how come very few people do it?
Because road racing has never been a popular kind of driving in the U.S. Even when people buy imports, they cannot change the fundamental fact that they're American and this is a drag racing country. On the streets, off the streets, that's what people like to do the most by far.

And also, insurance companies are wising up to HPDE loopholes in their policies and they're closing them up. A lot of people are scared of having to make $500 payments for a few more years on a ball of wadded up steel and plastic.
