You should separate VIII and IX, because IMO the IX seat coverings just humiliate the VIII coverings. That indented blue junk in the VIIIs was lame.

I second that.

Also I finally got a chance to sit in the X, wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, but it still is an upgrade over the IX. But while I did find the X seats to be very comfortable, I do like the look of the IX seats over the X. But all in all, the X has a better interior.

I think the X has a better interior by far, except for the seats.

I've been told that my interior looks like a 1995 corolla's

Anyone who says the VIII or IX has a better interior than the X is lying to themselves.

The biggest knock on the older Gen was the interior being so broke down and dated. The X has greatly improved on this and is clearly more worth your $35k.

I much prefer the IX interior. I've checked out several Lancers that share their interiors with the X and found the materials quality to be rather disappointing. The vast expanses of hard, brittle-feeling, creaky plastics are a step backward from the previous chassis. Sure, the pictures look nice, but the materials are not. Then there's the matter of no center-mounted tach, the hideous buttons on the steering wheel, the huge Mitsubishi logo to remind those with Alzheimer's which car they're driving, and the lack of easily to configure, single DIN gauge/radio options.

Seats aside, I think the grouping of the VIII and IX is ok due to the fact that they are similar. Besides, the real question is do people prefer the X over the VIII and IX's interior or not. So far, by a large margin, the X is definitely the favorite.

I always liked the 'indented blue junk' as you put it. Even after years of ownership they still look brand new. It's the rest of the interior that always looked like crap..

Yeah, I agree eddie. I liked the indentation for some reason. The only problem with the stock seats on the VIII I had was the plastic backs cracking, and the side supports wearing a hole in the material. Both were covered by warranty though.

That's actually a brilliant new way to market. If your airbag deploys, you'll have the Mitsubishi diamonds permanently stamped into your forehead.

The shape of the dash is much nicer, the gauge cluster lighting, the side door panels... all big improvements. the evo ix interior is really aweful aside from the seats.
