1st Oil Change

Anyone have a "qualified" opinion on how many miles before the first Oil Change. Any special break-in oil to use on the first change etc. When for the 2nd change or when on the 3000 mile routine ???

I have about 300 miles on my X and wondering if I should do a 500 mile oil change.

When I got my 8 new, I did an oil change at 1000 miles. This is to clean out any gunk, debris and excess metal from the assembly process.

1000 miles is the magic number. By the way, are all Mitsubishi dealers offering FREE oil changes for life, including oil and air filter, or is that just mine?

Not mine. Where I bought mine is about 80 miles away. I would not drive that far for an oil change.

Any other opinions on 1st oil change? Would it hurt (special break-in Oil ?) to change it sooner like 500 miles. I need to go back to the dealer for a treatment on the plastics (dash) etc. to protect from the sun etc.

The dealer told me to use only pure synthetic oil. I have not read the manual on that issue yet.

I wouldn't change it at 500 unless you never drive the car. I'm going to change mine around 3000, since I almost have that now.

No such thing as "break-in oil" anymore (since about 1960).

Change it now for peace of mind.

i changed mine at 1000 miles. i think the owners manual says something different... like 1500... you might want to look.

either way, myth or not, i did the whole under 4500rpm for 1000 miles, and changed the oil.
