Exactly. Not all projectors are the same, especially halogen compared to HID. You may get decent results with a kit, but that's not how many of us operate.

Or you could just retrofit a set of OEM S2000 HID projectors/ballasts/bulbs in there!

Aside from getting an MR, it is the only way to get it factory.

We tested an SSS GSR. The Sounds system is very nice. The fast key was not that impressive to me, but some may like it. The spolier is personal opinion. I think both look fine. HIDs are very nice. 2k is a big amount though. The non SSS package still has the same projector, so you could get an aftermarket kit and have almost the same affect.

^Good advice.

Why is Mitsu making all their packages $2,000? Is the 34k+markup we're paying not enough?

Is it really the same projector? If not i can always use an S2000 pro or be baller and throw in a bixenon pro like the TL. If its all worth the 2000$ then i may just get the SSS, i love music, i could care less about the spoiler. Why would we need it bigger unless were road racing or going top speed and we need the added downforce. The sound system and the added weight kinda cancel that out regardless. Im not sure if im even gonna get an X yet. It all depends how much the insurance is gonna be and the markup if i can get one for 36K out the door then its mine.

With the SSS, our tester was 35,6xx, so from certain dealers, depending on tax, close to 36 out the door is not far off. I believe they are the same projector. Definitely appearance wise.

I believe the non-SSS GSR's don't even come with halogen projectors. I think they come with the reflectors that are similar to the GTS and such models.

I just saw a EVO x w/o the SSS package. I really want HID's, but the other stuff really isn't important to me, and it cuts cost down 2k.

I was also thinking of just buying a HID package for 500 or soemthing.

I actually was not sure about that myself, so i looked back at a picture i took of one at southcoast, and it had projectors and the small wing. I believe the small wing means it cant have HIDs.

All the non-SSS package GSR's I've seen so far, have had the exact same reflector halogen's as the 2008 Lancer's.

If you look at some of the member's new Evo X w/o the SSS package, they are all reflectors

That's even worse.

HID "kit" thrown into halogen reflector housings = recipe for blinding disaster.

The sss package is going to be something that you will regret not getting. In terms of payment, youre really looking at an additional $35~$40 to your payment.

I guarantee you will wish you had it if you dont get it.

The Fast key by far is the best feature out of that package. HID's next, followed by the sound system, and spoiler last. At least, thats my order.

In addition, projectors may "appear" to look similar, but optics are completely different from a D2S bulb, to a 9006 "retrofit" HID kit.

This is beyond my knowledge base, so you may well be right. I have seen some that look basically the same when HIDs were installed, but cannot speak for all, and certainly not the X. Does look the same from the outside as far as I can tell, but true that may not mean much.
