test driving the x tomorrow

new to the forum, thank god i found a place dedicated to evos with such a large group.

well i went to the dealer this Saturday, but they didn't have any in stock yet, they told me they get 2 on Monday(today). sss package and aero kit for both, but no nav, one rally red and one graphite gray. so he said i could come in on tuesday and test drive one. hopefully i will be able to get one by mid summer when i hope the price goes down. (list price on both is 38,000).

does anyone know how long the dealerships usually let someone test drive cars, i'm hoping i can drive it around for 30-45mins.

my dealership didnt let anyone drive them until they proved they could afford it. I was kinda pissed at first but appreciated that the car wasnt abused.

All the dealers i've talked to near me wouldn't allow tests untill you got the numbers and credit out of the way. And they all want to keep miles to a minimum.

Yeah, dealers are always a pain about this. I actually made them give me, in a legal document, that I can test drive any car I want for life, no questions asked. Originally I wanted them to have to pay me $1000 every time I got hassled, but they wouldn't put that in

^what dealer would actually agree with that? haha ..

but yeah, most dealers around here won't let you test drive it just for fun. and i wouldn't expect that long of a ride ... maybe 10-15min at the most.

Very true. Some Evo X's in my area have 50-80 miles already!!! WTF?? Who's joy-riding driving these things!?

well, i went in today and the man i talked to Saturday was not there, even though he said he would. i even told him that i was coming today. long story short the other sales person would not let me take it out unless i would put down an $1000 dollar down payment and a credit app. so i was pretty ticked, so they let me at least start it up and listen to the Rockford system, and mess with it a little. when i left i told her to have the original salesman call me, which he did. he then told me something completely different-- i should of only had to give them my credit card and they would charge 500 dollars to it, so if i hurt anything on it they had the money, and they would then give it back after the test.

also i don't live in troy, its my name, i live in Clinton, MI

yeah usually they wait until you are about to sign the papers to buy it ... so if you really want to test drive it and have the time ... then go all the way and stop after the test drive .. ha
