Advertising costs money that mitsu does not have now... OK so the lancer is finaly a good car but the POS image still remains and will take 5 more years of good lancer to get rid of and mitsu needs to have a good car in every market segment not just the EVO! Imagine if Mitsu have made Eclipse as "cool" as the Nissan 350Z... then they would be doing very well now..

You are right. Mitsu can't expect to be one of the lowest selling cars right now, then come out with a 35k-40k car and think the history behind them will vanish . Mitsu dealers are the worst when it comes to customers and most of there dealerships fell like a used car lot. It took hyundia a good while to erase their history and now they sell over 400k cars a year. Mitsu should have left the evo the way it was (with yaw of coarse) and try to fix the regular duty cars, cause most people won't be buying the evo.

AFAIK Mitsubishi had to do something with the Evo, or quit selling it. Leaving it as-is was not an option.

Agreed. In today's market, leaving a car unchanged for 2-3 model years won't cut it.

I sure as hell wouldn't buy one if left it as is.

I did not mean to leave the evo itself unchanged. I meant the approach. Like have a rs and keep it as their sports car to only apeal to those who know it. Lets face it, If mitsu sold 5000 evo's this year, it would not change what people think of mitsu. None the less i like the car more, but it would not make me get rid of my Tl nor it won't make most people who buy g35, Is350 335 or whatever change their minds either. Look at the guy who started the thread, his brother got a TL-s and did not know what the evo was. Even if it he did know and got the evo, there would be a chance he would give it up in the near future because most people who step out of the evo early say that it was really not the car for them. 35k-40k for a car that is more on the performance side is not going to win the masses. That is the hard true and the way it is. most car companies try to change their image from the bottom up and yes the new lancer is better, but How many do you see a day? I'm lucky if I see 3, and I live in a place that is littered with cars. I still like the car and will wait 1-2 years before i test the waters, but have to have a more refined car than the evo in my garage

And thats not true. Most cars have a 5 year cycle with a mid change at 3, example IS 250-350 is going on the 3 year and it's the same car. The TL is on its 5 year with a changeover later this year. It had a mid change for 07-08. The list goes on. if you make good cars people will buy them. if you make reliable car people will buy them. If you market them (not always) people will buy them.
