Test drove a X today (NC)...
its not clutch smell....... its a protective coating that they spray on all the heat shields brake rotors and the engine block to keep it from rusting during shipment overseas
I could see it being protective coating burning off.. that sounds reasonable although clutch has a VERY distinct smell and that's what it smelled like haha
As for my test drive, I didn't beat on the car by any means because I wasn't even driving the color that I wanted. They just had me take out the first one to get registered and cleaned up. That car is not a straightline beast. It just isn't. you also have to keep in mind that the X's have dynoed around 215 ish stock I believe and I'm comparing against my car that dynoed 341 AND is lighter so that's a huge difference. I wasn't expecting it to be a speed demon, but it just didn't feel quick to me at all. I think the motor has some potential as vendors are proving.. the only question now is how reliable is it and how much modded power can it handle? What's the limits?
