(Disclaimer, I love the EVO 1-9 and have owned a 2003 EVO 8 till present)
I didnt come to this thread to "Bash the X" as you say. I was putting my review out there so if you want to take it as a personal insult just b/c you have a X then be my guest.

I think it went to crap because everyone gets all fussy and bickers back and forth. Yeah I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but for once I would like to read a post where someone isnt gripeing

i think the real problem, and 3000ways touched on it earlier, is that people are putting out strongly negative/ positive reviews on a car that they can't rightfully say they are familiar with. no track time, no seat time over a significant distance.

how much can one really tell about a car by driving it up and down a street? even if the dealer lets you launch it and activate the ABS, it's safe to assume the car is gonna get significantly faster as you learn to finely control that particular car/ break-in the motor/ modify engine, suspension, and brakes.

how did you like the AYC? did you disengage the ASC? did you disengage it fully? how did S-AWC react to mid-corner bumps under steady state cornering? these would all shed a lot of light on your driving impressions.

99% of all 4g63 never see over 500 HP
99% of all EVO-X will never see anything over 500 hp
didnt design the new block just for the 1% of those guys.
so maybe you should stfu "
This is was differentiates the previous 4G63 enthusiasts from most of the Evolution guys today: complete ignorance. Your telling me 99% of Evolution guys wil never see over 500hp. Really? So out of 100 Evolutions, 98-99 are not in the 500hp range? Bull****. If that is true, I find that sad that the majority of people who own these cars void their warranties on a regular basis, ad will never see 450-500hp. BTW, here in FL, there are quite a few 450HP+ daily driven Evolutions, and I put down about 400whp in my Talon, and it's still on the stock bottom end. Regardless, the strength of the 4B11 is a totaly different topic, so lets not go completely off topic....

Oh boy, he says, "It's not even as fast as the IX" as if the IX is slow, or as if there are a ton of cars faster then the IX. The IX is a difficult machine to top power wise, so mitsu went a different direction the x does however have more technological advancements though, see how mitsu sacrificed a bit of it's raw power for more technology.
Whats so advanced? AYC has been around in Japanese Mitsubishis forever.

It all depends on where you want your money spent.
Does it make you feel better if Mitsubishi takes out the Brembo Rotors brake systems and spend that 4k on leather seats?
Take away 4k worth of Recaro seat and make the EVO dash kit out of Silk.
Take away the 4k worth S-AWC yew control system and gold plate everything in the car?.
Take away the 4k worth AWD and add a Swimming pool in the trunk for the kids.
Nah just make the interior a little different than your standard econobox that it is based on. Everything looks cheap. The plastics look cheap, the shift knob looks cheap, the fake carbon fiber crap across the dash looks cheap.....

so you're hanging around here on the X forum to rip on it and say how much it sucks? Smells like a hater to me.
So in a thread titled "Not impressed with Evo X Experiance" I am voicing my opinion, and you are trying to burn me? Smells like a bunch of fanboy nutswingers to me.

If I were you, yes I would definitely trade in a Talon and Civic for the Evo X
Negative, I'll sooner keep both of the above vehicles, and be able to rape the **** out of Evolutions on the weekends, and get good gas economy during the week.

Seems like unless you post somthing positive, or just be a "me too" nutswinger in general, you will get alot of hate on these boards. They would rather you tell about your exciting story about how you took the 38k Evolution on a test drive, and really got to "test out the new AYC on the twisties, yo!"

The salesman almost **** his pants when I went a little faster than the speed limit, I played with the AYC and took some pretty tight quick turns with it and drove it around for about 20 straight minutes to check it out after he finally shut the **** up in the car. Still wasnt to amped about the whole experience. Maybe I need to drive it again, which I will be doing at another dealership.

Why do these threads always end up with horsepower pissing contests? If you want to go drag racing, pick up a fox body Mustang, modify it, and go join a Mustang forum and argue with other keyboard jockeys about who wins the stop light Grand Prix.

the real problem is that people make some pretty big statements (positive and negative) with just a few data points. and then, on top of that, the few data points are weak to begin with. and if you didn't notice, AYC is new in the US and is the big unknown, unlike having a decently quick evo, which is fairly common that a wide range of people have personally experienced.

It seems like people that give negative reviews about the X gets trolled by the X owners. I guess they only want threads that tell how "godly" the car is..

I find it funny that the only people who have something bad to say about the X are salty IX and VIII owners.

That's where the difference is though; no one on any of those other forums whines about how crappy the new itteration of the Mustang is. They only care about making it better.

The drama/stupidity/juvenility on this message board knows no bounds...

I'm the last person to be salty about my IX, in fact driving the X last night solidified my decision to keep my IX.

Not true.

Facts are facts.. not ONE of you have responded to the fact that the X REQUIRES mods in order for the car to even be competitive. Buschur and other tuner shops, while loving the X, complain about the stock parts. Not only are you spending $40k on a brand new car, but you have to IMMEDIATELY turn around and mod it because of this. Not very practical in my book. And this is what a lot of the previous gen evo owners are seeing when test driving the car.

To be competitive? Robispec already mentioned that the car was obliterating the IX at Willow Spring.

I also have been reading the same threads and I am not seeing where these large "complaints" lie, unless you're talking about the restrictive nature of the stock exhaust or the stock tuning which is no better or worse than the previous generations.

Don't you have something better to do with your day than constantly hang around a forum and bashing a car you clearly have no intentions of owning?

Why, why, why do you consider it "bashing" to state the obvious???

YOU will mod your car, because YOU know it has some weak points stock (i.e. intercooler, incredibly rich, notchy tranny, erratic idle issue, cheap paint, etc..)
Robispec STILL has to mod his car in order for it to dominate. Just because he said it's fast (and even HE put some mods on the car) as he drove it doesn't mean it's fast enough to win competitions.

Most EVERYONE on these boards will NOT be happy with their X in bone stock form. Period.
