I was reading through this abomanation of a thread earlier and I wanted to clairfy three things I read.

1. There is no car more toolish than the BMW 3-Series. Anyone who spends 30K+ on a Mitsubish is not doing it for the name. The same can't be said for the BMW.

2. The Evolution DOES look like the base lancer. That's because the base Lancer is about 35000 times nicer than the old base lancer.

3. People are stupid, ignorant, and like to hear themselves talk. A lot.

all I have to say is texting when the sales droid is talking rocks!!! I never thought of that one.

Most dealers try to keep you in there as long as they can, figuring you will soften up. You totally flipped the table on them!!!

Cheers to the texting bargain method!!!

Sorry should of been more clear. It was as willow springs, were other Ix and X owners were there as well. Look at the pics, those are not my IX or X, but fellow members from SoCalEvo. They tried hard to make the X understeer, but it just kept correcting itself. Many if not all IX out there that day were busting 3 wheel motion, just like the IX in the pic.

Thats a cool pic man. I tried really hard to break a tire up, but the car wont allow it. Probably because the chassis is a lot stiffer, and the car itself is designed better for these turns.

LO freakin L. i love these threads. so many vast and varied opinions. but lords3t is right about an aluminum block. not only are they lighter, they can dissipate heat alot better than iron. and the first 4 banger in the 7's was a big ol' turboed ecotec. (saturn ftw lol) as a mechanic, the only time i've seen an aluminum block fail is when a rod breaks and goes through the block. if i'm not mistaken, the lamborghini gallardo (along with many modern cars) is an aluminum block with liners. heads are aluminum also. i'm not for or against the evo x. it is an evolution of the vehicle. hopefully it will prove to be just as good as the previous models. i mean look at the gt-r. it looks NOTHING like the r34 and the new engine has NOTHING to do with the rb26. but i bet you will still cream your pants if you drove it. the evo x also has the ability to cream pants. it's only been out 2 months. give it a chance. the 4g63 had 17 years to be reliable.

Aluminum block arguement is stupid..

Here's a OPEN DECK ALUMINUM block making 600whp on entirely stock internals oil pan to valve cover.

I just think its amazing that Mitsubishi AND Subaru both wound up making their flagship cars SLOWER. Just opposite the trend of an updated version. The X is nice but i wouldnt spring that money for it. Im glad i did my research and got the 9.

The X was meant to impress in the corners while competing in the straights. Bring your IX, I'll take looks and handling with competitive acceleration any day.

I was skeptical at first but the Evo X is pretty badass, I love my 8 and wouldn't give it up for a X but after its paid off maybe I'll get a X for a DD.

holy crap a sh-t ton of posts in one day...

did anyone mention to this guy that there are a bunch of other companies able to make great power off aluminum blocks?

take GM for example... the Ecotec 4cyl aluminum block (86x86 bore, ironically) is able to produce well over 1800hp just fine. The stock block (without modification) can take up to 700hp before the head starts warping.

I dunno... im just tired of all these non car enthusiast people (you know the type, people that dont know their plinxter bearing from their dipstick) saying the new X will suck just because its aluminum block.

only time will tell...

everyone that is hating on the new motor is just speculating based of their "vast" automotive knowledge

lol, the only dealer in Jax FL. (2 stores, same dealer) said they would give me 18k for my 06MR with 4000 miles on it, in perfect (not a single flaw) condition. Im keeping it, but was curious what they would take it for. "Unlock some horsepower!" lol. They told me that the X is the meanest thing on the street, tons of people are fighting to buy it, 10,000 markup. I said no. They called me back and said mabye we could work something out to get them on the streets so they could sell them lol. I told them, your not going to sell that car for 45k (it's a bare bones model too). They are still at it, and still have the 3 original X's they have had since they came in a month ago.
