I'm just confused to as I am hearing it is rare to have a 400-500whp Evolution, yet nobody leaves them stock. WTF is the point of modification then if power is not the goal? What, is everyone here spending money just for the sake of seeing it go?

Robispec STILL has to mod his car in order for it to dominate. Just because he said it's fast (and even HE put some mods on the car) as he drove it doesn't mean it's fast enough to win competitions.

Most EVERYONE on these boards will NOT be happy with their X in bone stock form. Period.
I'm immensely happy with my X in bone stock form. Period. I hope this causes you irritation.

sorry your X experience sucked. Please tell us something that hasn't been puked all over these forums already.

BTW if you're that much of a purist buy a IX, its a much better car than the VIII stock for stock boostez. Furthermore no one can argue subjective statements like "you have to heavily mod it to be competetive," because terms like "heavily mod," and "competive" are all relative. No facts stated at all on either part. People can, and should be allowed to enjoy their cars just as much as you do.

As an owner of both a IX and a X, let me start off by saying I love both. The IX is rougher, you can feel the power more. Thats why the OP stated that he couldnt feel anything in the X. There your right, the X is so much smoother, but its not slow at all. You just dont get that crazy feeling while driving it. Took both the IX and the X to the track last weekend, and the X was right there with the IX in lap times, granted the X is STOCK and the IX isnt. SO if I was to modify the X as much as my IX, the X will kill the IX at the track. My X is gunna become my daily driver for now, but once the tuning options are out, I will see the X becoming more of a beast than the IX, well a more "refined" beast thats for sure.

Ha ha, 90percent of bmw int, and 150percent of performance. Claims of beating an m3 around track. I like the x, but I see why some the the IX drivers have an issue with the X guys. But at least you are comparing it to another brand, just think the wrong car.

Good to hear man. Its also worth mentioning that mitsu built upon the VIII with the IX in some really positive ways. It may be very likely that the XI will follow suit and go through some refinement as well. I personally believe the X shows much promise, and I am glad to hear about actual owners feeling the same way.

No more or less than I was with my VIII or any other turbocharged car for that matter. Knowing that simple bolt-ons can unleash a lot of horsepower is always a huge temptation.

I wonder if Japan flipped the **** over like this when they went from the III to the IV or from the VI to the VII. Glad we're all being civil

Right, but how great is the urge? I picked up an MR2 Turbo a couple of months ago for RR/AutoX. I knew when I bought it that it was going to need some mods to make it compete with the newer cars.. but that's a small price to pay. 2 weeks after I got it, I had that urge to get things rolling..because I just didn't feel" right driving around knowing that the car could only manage high 14s stock.

Contrast that with my VIII. Back in 2004, I didn't feel the urge to mod right away because it was already as fast as the new cars that came out (350Z, G35, SRT4, STI, M3, etc.) So considering mods would've entertained the thought of being FASTER than my current competition, not being EQUAL (speaking from a straight line standpoint as most people)..

If I buy an evo X, I'd feel the same way I feel about my MR2.. it's behind and needs to be caught up. Only $40k+mods is a lot more than $8k+mods.

I feel like I need to learn to drive the car fast on the track first as the car is undoubtedly far beyond my current driving ability before I go hog wild with tossing modifications on the car.

I hear ya.. and I agree! but that's looking at it from a RR/AutoX standpoint. When you are driving around town, you may still feel somewhat inferior to the newer cars driving around beside you (which would suuurre make that boost controller and intake look appealing)..

Ever since the X rumors started and now that its actually out, there has been tons of people that love them and tons more that hate the X. I just dont see the reason to bash on the X if you have only test driven it for like 15 minutes. Like I said, I own both, and thats why I can actually give "real" input on both cars. Let me share a funny story with you guys, when I pick up girls in my IX they kinda just look at my car like whatever. Once they feel the power that the IX has they seem to enjoy it. But on my X, while on a date last night, the girl right away noticed how much "nicer" the X is compared to my IX, but still liked the power in this bone stock X. I guess what im trying to say, is that they are both great cars, its just that the X is able to be as good as previous Evos, but at the same time be more refined and smooth all the way around.
