I think another important point missing here is the gearing. In my VIII, I could drive to ~120 before shifting to 5th. In the X, you are done at 110. As you add more power, and your trap times go up, you will find it hard to compete due to the shift, which usually robs .3 seconds.

You know i've always wondered... in 4th on my VIII I could hit 120-121mph before fuel cut.. stock. On this one it seems to only get just over 112-114mph when fuel cut happens... I wasn't sure if it was just cut it's heavier that it's not hitting the 120mph or if the gears are actually shorter... I really do thinkg they're shorter, not by much, but still shorter.

There is no way at 7250 (which is the OFFICIAL redline) in 4th with an VIII that you'll be at 120mph. I only reached 120mph in 4th when I raised my rev limiter to 7750rpm.

I think it is hilarious every time some mentions the 1/4 mile time of the X that someone comes in and post the one or two guys in the country that posted 12.7-12.8 times in their stock IX. Be somewhat realistic and compare what MOST people run stock vs the times people are posting.

I actually havent found proof, anywhere, that anyone has run a 12 second 1/4 mile in a stock IX. Everyone is 13.1 - 13.5.

thanks for the replies guys...i havent been able to get back on evom since yesterday..they took internet away from us at work..****ers..lol..so here i am on my phone....the stock clutch is definitely hurting...more so because i disabled the factory launch control and launched @ 6-7k rpm. its kind of hard to compare the x to the 9 bc of the weight difference..but think about it....stock 9 needs a flash full turboback boost controller intake clutc and full exhaust to go low 12s...when i put a clutch in my car and reflash the ecu, the results will be the same...with more weight. the X is really proving itself.
Anyways the X gearing is indeed shorter. It has the same gear ratios as a IX but a shorter final drive ratio. Redline is at 104mph and revlimiter is at 110mph I believe. To me the evo has never been a drag car its just always happened to be good at it. Mitsubishi really made the X more for cornering. Their are alot of things that just aren't going to help it drag racing. Too heavy, short geared, obviously the clutch. I would think with most bolts ons and a tune mid 12's would probably be the norm. To get 11's you are either going to need to hold 4th atleast to 8k for enough trap speed or shift to 5th. Being a 15g turbo running past 7500 is probably going to be out of its efficienty range so shifting to 5th will be better but still hinder times.

There are soooo many variables around the country with times i.e., altitude, driver, tires, psi, temp, humidity, weight I mean when you are talking stock for stock IX to X those variables do come in to play. If I do get a X I hope it is as fast as my IX with my mods cause she is scary quick! Good times cause apparently the X runs much more rich than the VIII or IX stock.
