Thats why those "covers" are there.

the US front crash beam doesn't come pre-tapped.

You can either tap, and buy the HKS ones. or get creative and weld something.

Good luck.

And it's incredibly annoying.

The best way to mount a front tow hook on a X is to drill a hole and put the tow hook thru the aluminum crash beam and secure with a nut on the other side. You will also need a wedge washer/spacer to accomodate for the angle of the crash beam...it follows the contour of the front of the car.

The problem with drilling and tapping is that you can't adjust the angle. It honestly looks funny if you try it...just to for warn ya. The angles don't match up and the tow hook looks to be on too much of an angle.

Same goes for the welding method...you can weld an aluminum nut onto the crash eam but you'd have to make up for the angle somehow

How difficult is it to get the nut on the inside of the crash beam, and then hold it in place while screwing in the tow hook? What all needs to be dismantled to gain access to the back/inside of the crash beam?

By the way, DON'T buy the mossmini tow hooks. The look good but they have M16 3.0 pitch threading and you WON'T find nuts to match! Maybe I said that already but it bears repeating.

Tow Hooks are fine but if you are racing in a 'rubbing panels' environment they aren't ideal as it's possible to 'hook up' with another car if you go nose to tail in something like a heavy braking situation during a race. Tow straps that are hidden are for a serious motorsport application as the limit the possibility of hooking up.
