What should I sell?!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be getting an EVO again in a few months. Actually, I will be buying it for my wife. Anyhow, I was actually thinking of buying two because I want to modify mine a little bit more than my last EVO8 I sold after 8 months of owndership. The delima is should I just keep the 993 and Lotus and get just one and Modify it after the warranty or should I buy two and sell one of my cars and modify mine immediatley

The mods I would do to mine would be limited to just a 2.2l block, big turbo, and other nits and bits. I am going to keep everything else stock because I am not that much into those things anymore. I am reaching 42 years old and I don't want to waste a penny. Having a 500 hp pump gas car is amazing and i have benn able to experience this many times in my life just not now. I want it now!

Anyhow, I appreciate any feedback and here are pics of my current cars and my past EVO8 I sold about three years ago.

Have fun!

Lotus & 993 are both very nice cars... if I were in your position I would keep both & get an Evo & mod it after the warranty (if you can wait). But you could always do bolt-ons, which seem like those are giving pretty good gains & would be easier to remove if you need your car to get serviced by Mitsu.

I would not call a 2.2ltr and bigger turbo modding the car alitte bit. As we all know that will require alot of supporting mods. But a little bit is a good way to tell the wife....lol If I was you before you jump into two EVOS, just get the one for now and make sure that is what you want to do.

GSR for you to mod.. MR for her to drive daily and leave it be.. You don't need both those other cars.. I'm sure you could do without one of them..

I know that there are supporting items to support the new block and turbo. You have to forgive me since I have been out of the tuner game for some time. My company is called Rytek Projektz and some of the cars I have built have been insane. That was 7 years ago.

In 1992, I had the opprtunity to start a company that was to go against the best of best. At that time, all there was was HKS and Trust. I was the West Coast rep for Trust when Joe Casella had the import rights but japan stepped in and took it away from him. This kinda upsetted me and I started a company known as RS Akimoto. This was the first company to start making tuner parts for the High HP Japanese cars made in the USA. I built the Supra that was in Motortrend and the Skyline GTR in Turbo Magazine. Anyhow, I wanted to design everything for maximum HP gains for these cars, but my partner at that time Sy Akimoto had different plans and hence I left him and started my own company which is known as Rytek Projektz. I am a consultant to GM Special Vehicles and built a few cars for Jon Moss. I posted a pic of one of them and this baby was as fast as a 1000cc bike on the freeway!.

So, for stock, I will keep the exterior completely mundane so i don't attract any attention to would be thieves wanting nice wheels and such. But when you open the hood, you know this is all business! What do you think about these apples. I am having fun once again. Heheheh!

You think my wife will be surprised when she buys diapers at babies are us? in the modified EVOX? heheheh...

I would keep the 993, but then again, I am biased in that respect (I own a 964). Having never driven the esprit, I cannot speak to how good or bad of a car it is, but I dont see a big need for both and not all three. You could ditch the lotus and get an X GSR and MR. Mod the GSR, and get the MR for the wife

I forgot to mention that the car above I built in just 3 weeks. That included new paint, inside and out. Built motor with titanium internals, and complete interior redo. RWP recorded close to 550hp. Broke 3 clutches on a TV show, tooo much torque. I have to say that a forced inducted, fully built, knife edged titantium connected LS1 is no joke and the sound is nothing short of motor costing close to $25g's to build. Just plain awesome! But, I cannot compete in a road coarse in that...

My wife currently drives a fully loaded and optioned New Jetta. Lease is ending in 6 months. She used to drive the EVO8 and all the dum*a*s wanabee racers would harass her all the time. I hated this but I blame the fact that I added to much to compliment the exteroir. You know, the typical HRE wheels, blazed perrin in red on the fmic, coffee can tip, loud bypass valve. Just not into those things anymore at all period.... I sold it after changing the oil twice. Now, she hates the Jetta literally and all she wants is the EVOX and me too. I buy a different car for myself every year. I don't have any plans to ever sell the Esprit. Imagine an engine like your EVO right in back of your head! The 993 handles better than my EVO8 ever did and that EVO had the H&R coil over kit. The 993 has a simular but full race H&R al monoball kit and I can corner 10 mph faster in that than the EVO. Problem is it is slow! I should have just gotten a 993TT. My wife actually likes the idea of me getting that instead of two EVOX. She must have her own EVOX. Problem with the 993TT is I can buy 2 EVOX with the cost of one 993TT and these cars are ten years old but resale is great! You don't loose a penny even after you
have owned it for 2 years. Problem with the 993TT is if I have a huge problem with the engine, a replacement is close to $30,000, and an EVO crate only $5000. If you have these kinds of decision making problems, the end result is what will acully make you smile every day and keep the most money in your pocket. Those that concur with me jump in and support.

With the new EVOX, my plan will be simple.
Buy new crate motor and stroker kit with proper periferals ( fuel pump, ECU, and...)
Get the fastest spooling turbo to support 500awhp at lowest rpm possible
Plumb by pass back into the intake (keep it quiet)
large FMIC painted black
New exhaust will have stock tips added on.
Powder coat stock wheels black
Suspension Stock ( the car is already balanced, not into lowering anymore)
interior wont be touched
No gauge pillars ( I think those just look ridiculous, my opinion.)
Only guages I will add will be boost and EGT and I will do my very best to conceal them.
I am having too much fun thinking about what I am about to do very soon.

Dindo

So all in all, I will use money for the motor only. When it is complete, I will remove the completey stock motor and set aside for legal puposes, drop in the new fully built motor. Get a time slip, call a few people at primedia that know me well and have the car on the cover of a mag! And in the end, hopefully my wife will still be smiling....

Is it me or does this thread just seem to be nothing more than an outlet for the OP to brag about his cars and accomplishments

Thanks fellas for supporting me against the negative comment above. It is true that we all have the same interest and the EVOX one of them. I really don't care about what others think about what I have, had, or what not. I just want my life to be exciting and the EVOX gives just that.

It's funny though how a negative comment can come by. Funny thing is on the 993 forum, we praise others that have f430, 2 carreras and so forth. I have never seen the word brag until someone commented negatively against a lister showing his cars. They were a Murcielgo, Carrera GT, GT40, Enzo, and more. My cars don't even add up to the cost of just one of his in his collection and that is against his cheapest car. Well guess what, the supporting members told the negative commentor to find another site where he is comfortable in and where they love to read negativety.

Thank you for supprtting me on this one.

So here goes, I am tending towards keeping the esprit since I have had that for many years. No matter what, I have to buy my wife an EVOX. Should I just keep the 993 and wait till the wifes EVOX warranty expires. Buy the new crate engine now and commence the build of the 2.2L and huge turbo set-up. As soon as she wants something else, get what she wants as soon as possible and then I can put the beast in and have the most fun in my life!!!

If this is what I'll do, I'll post every step of the way to make this tranformation as simple as possible. That will include costs, who, where mod was done, time for mod so that when someone else does this, they will have an instruction manual to do the same thing for the least amount of money out of there pocket.

Are we having fun

By the way, I want to keep the stock engine completely unaltered if for any reason I'll need it in the future. Maybe put it in the garage with my bed as soon as my wife knows my plans for her/my EVOX

Just make sure that everything you need is actually available. The aftermarket is limited to bolt-ons, for the most part, right now on the X, so be careful.

As far as big turbos go, I'd be worried about lag. The IX was my first turbo'd car, and the lag on that was no fun. Our X is much better in that area, so my main focus would be on keeping lag to a minimum if it were my project.
