GSR vs. MR
Well, in the Navy we have a saying that it ain't queer if you're off the pier. Haha, j/k.
I agree with that. I think driving with stick is a lot more enjoyable, and I'd like to learn some rallying techniques in the future, so I'm definitely going with the 5-speed. It also doesn't help that several reviews equate driving the MR to playing a PS2 game. Hell, I could do that for a lot cheaper than 35K!!

That's what you say now, but when you (and your bank account) grow up...you'll be sitting in the Nissan dealership like "What do you mean the GTR doesn't come with a traditional manual!?" Dual Clutch transmissions are the future...no need to hate what you don't understand
Man, this is a lame "hater" thread

While I see your point, I have to disagree. The SST is a really cool thing and it is definitely a much more efficient system. However, there will always be a core of drivers who prefer to drive because they like to drive and thus they'll want to do all the driving as opposed to some computer. So, even now as this great technology is available, some people don't want it simply because they prefer the traditional way of driving and that's why they do it. Think of like boating: motors are obviously more efficient, but some just love to sail so that's what they do. Though, ExcessLancer does have a pretty good reason to get the SST.
I like to hear people say they prefer doing the shifting themselves, because I'm one of those people. So, don't call us all haters because one person says something stupid.

JapanEVO4 your completely right!!! I have a friend who works at LUK clutch and they've told him their slowing their production of clutch's to a snails crawl (eventually doing away with them after 2009). Luk clutch is the worlds biggest clutch manufacturer, what does that tell you? Manual shift is a thorn in my side and the MR will handle more than what it's geared for... I will be purchasing the GSR only because it sits better with my wallet, I would much rather drive the MR. TC-SST "hands down" will out shift any of you in your GSR, it's twice as fast and twice as precise.
When human error occurs and the MR smokes you on the track because of it's consistency and ability to utilize two clutches as opposed to your one, all you TC-SST haters will be eating your own words.

Your input is definitely appreciated, but this isn't a debate about which is more efficient, or faster (because that's a mute point), but instead which of the two someone prefers. I'm sure automation will eventually lead to a drastic reduction in cars that come with sticks, but that doesn't mean that people won't miss them.
Probably in the future the tc-sst will be prefected to handle anything. Dual clutch will be the thing of the future. the GTR dual clutch seems to be doing great.

it is the future to an extent... But I think sporty cars will generally offer both unless they feel the target audience won't want it... Such as people spending $100k , and are generally older
While I prefer a 6 speed manual...( 5 speed in the gsr is a factor... I do 35 miles a day hwy) I'd have to take the SST since traffic and spouses are a issue.... 5 years ago I'd shoot myself for saying that... LOL

Random question to those that would not buy it because of the SST: Given you had the means, would you not buy the new GTR or say a 430 Scuderia for the same reason? Not trying to be sarcastic, just wondering if you see it the same way? To me personally, it depends on the car.
I would probably opt for the MR myself, and I would gladly get either of the other two cars mentioned. There are some cars however that I would rather have a standard shift.

Its also worth noting that most haven't had any experience with the SST and are instead basing their experience off of some tiptronic garbage. People make it sound like they loose all interaction with the road because there are paddles now and no extra pedal. People still can opt to shift the car whenever and however they like. If its good enough for f-1 drivers (and the two systems have been compared), I think I'll continue to withhold judgment. So many haters over a product they haven't even used yet. Kinda silly.

It's not so much about the shifting for me. I definitely prefer the traditional way, but I am going to test both the MR and the GSR before I purchase one. The SST is a cool concept and is definitely the future. I plan on having a ZR1 in the next 10 years, so if I find I like the SST, I might get the MR simply so I can have both.

JK..
