GSR vs. MR

Is there anyone picking a GSR over the MR simply because it has the traditional manual 5 speed?

I know the SST is a lot quicker and also easier for novice drivers, but I love me some stick.

For the shear excitment of daily driving, I choose the GSR for the stick. Not worth the extra millisecs while road racing 50 miles a year when I'll rack up 10K miles dd'ing.

JK..kinda, I choose the GSR b/c mitsu has publically stated (I believe) that the GSR would be the easiest to mod and support the highest HP levels. (paraphrasing of course)

It can also be 1/2 the annoyance in driving during certain situations.

In my opinion, nothing is more satisfying than that shift falling into place with perfect clutch timing. Even when commuting to work. That sound is delicious...

sorry, couldn't help it The biggest reason people want the GSR over the MR is because the SST probably cant handle as much power as the standard trans, and the upgrade paths for the trans will be VERY different (if existent at all for the SST). In stock trans form, it looks like the GSR manuals are kicking the bucket around 400 whp, so for a stable setup on a stock trans, the two SHOULD be pretty close (given the getrag specs for the SST). Time will tell.

I'm not sure if that is a criticism or complement to the SST.... cause thats what happens every time, and you don't have to do anything

Ha. I suppose it could be either, if you look at it that way. I'm in the Manual camp though, I love the "doing" part of shifting, and that is what I was referring to.

People keep saying the SST won't handle a sig increase in power?? Based on what? How could this be known?

I read this in 0-60, admittedly a decent mag, but now one really knows...yet

Having said that I'd prefer the conventional manual in the GSR.
