That 13.9 was an early production if even production model, to date no magazine has duplicated its soggy performance. They have all been faster.

hardly matters tho guys. testing a car without a baseline is like kissing your sister...

I think that the weight is hefty for a road car but mitsu has owned that problem. I think tho that putting it on an autox where lightweight = win that much weight will kill it in the transitions. ditto for drag racing. The engine will need to be significantly more powerful to push the extra 300lbs, no electronics will fool that gage.

Still nice car tho. And that trans sounds awesome!

I never ever believe american car magazines. Why? Well lets just say if the car company has enough $$$ they will throw it at them to get a good test. Everyone has a price. Not just that every single car that they do tests on do not live up to their standards or is better then what they get most of the time. Very few times do they hit the head on the nail. With that said on last thing "It's a Drivers Race" any person can beat another persons time in the same car. A lot of things factor in.

I see no distinction between 'american magazines' and any other magazine. They are all written by humans given cars produced by humans and tested by humans.

I think its pretty clear where the problem is.

Without a baseline its less of a test than an article of entertainment.

Why do these magazine articles never specifically say what mode they are in & whether or not they used launch control. I'm assuming they did use launch control in Super Sport mode, but it would be nice for them to specify.

300lbs isn't that bad...people make it sound like the end of the world. My friend weights 256lbs...hell he doesn't even look fat...yet I don't really notice any performance drain when he is in the car. The X has been doing great in the handling department when it comes to reviews. The weight isn't really an issue there.

It's funny that the MR was avertised like the above ^^, smoother and quieter ride but then the review states this:

"Out on the open road, over potholes and expansion joints, the Evo rattles like an empty Danish cookie tin. On long hauls, the stiff chassis tuning and lack of sound-deadening lay siege to the senses.

Despite the rough ride, a few editors feel like the tradeoff would be worth it. "

Doesn't sound very luxurious and comfortable to me.

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, they said the same crap about the ride quality of the GTS and how the road noise echos off the roof and hit's you in the face for a second time! The ride is smooth, controlled and quite! These magazines are taking guys who test drive lambos,Mercedes, Cadilacs, ferrari and so forth! So when you dump them in a 33k car all they do is bash! Plain and simple, look at the numbers, forgive their ignorance and spoiled ways, this car owns!

The MR and GSR are for different markets. Observe the differences and purchase accordingly.

Sorry they don't have more options to move from model to model. But neither do many other auto models and manufacturers.

QFT

this is one reason i "hate" top gear and clarkson. they test exotics all day and have the nerve to complain about cars being slow. WTF?

i can't wait for top gear to talk sh*t about the GTR. performance wise it's a stud. so i'm guessing they'll pull the old it lacks feel, passion, looks, etc. oh and i'll bet my soul that they'll demean the badge in some way...

I remember when all cars were much heavier, and even without airbags I think safer than any new car. I have a 1979 lincoln continental, its been though some pain. Got hit several new years ago in NEW ORLEANS by a 4x4. It crushed the Squirell cage it hit the front fender so hard. there were 4 of us in the car, none wearing a seat belt. One was a pregnant girl about 19. Nobody got hurt, in fact we hardly even felt it. The bumper even flew off the truck it hit so hard.

Same car gets hit again on the same side by a truck full of rail road ties. Totalled the truck. I took a jack and jacked my fender off the right rear tire and drove off, lol. Again no seat belt and not a sratch on me.

I was gonna fix it but after that second crash it was too much damage. Even today that car still drives perfect. I'll post a pic if anyone wants to see it. They don't make cars like they used too. 6343 pound curb weight means you'll most likely win in a wreck. Anyway when I saw that for safety I just had to post this. I haven't drove that car in years because of gas, but I love that car. ;]
