2008 EVO X - Clutch issue

What is the issue with the new clutch?

I test drove the new X GSR on Saturday at Little Joe's in Chesapeake, VA. The car had 3 miles on it when I got in it. I think we maybe put 10 miles on it. When we returned to the dealership, the burning smell was horrid. It's been 2 years since I've been a daily 6spd driver (RX8), though we just got rid of my wife's 5 speed car.

I noticed the clutch smell on the car I test drove after returning it to the lot. I noticed it on my X when I first got it home.

I haven't had any issues with it since. I suspect it's some burning off of materials from shipping or from the factory.

Maybe the problem was you were driving it like a 6-spd? J/k, i wouldn't worry about it, much like the above poster said.

Mine smelled for the first 1000 miles then it slowly went away. Doesn't matter as I have a ACT clutch now and I'm loving it!

The smell is normal on these cars until the clutch is broken in.

The smell is pretty bad. It only lasted a few days for me. I think it's the combo of the clutch break in and the ac / heater.

Strange combo... burning 'new car' scent. mmmmmm.
