5 evo X at dealership
Maybe people found out about all the problems with the new Evo's:
Problems with shifting 1-2 and 2-3
Rough/stuttering Idle
Running too rich (even for Evos)
High RPM loss of power
Missing Drivers side trim piece under seat
Recaros coming apart
MR late release because of problems tuning their auto tranny
Break-Away Gas Pedal
Bad Paint (worse than ever)
Milky Appearance on Hood Scoop (some)
and decided that they could get a better built car for their $40k
and 300hp isn't the big deal it used to be.

as far as evos on the lots.. along w/ the economy that someone else mentioned.. i also think it has to do with the colors. when i bought mine, there was only 1 white gsr sss left (within 4 mitsu dealerships).
about puente hills mitsubishi.. maybe they have a lot of cars because they don't allow people to test drive them! i hope they've changed by now, but when i wanted to buy an evo iiix (when they were out), they wouldn't let me drive it.
Economy, Economy, Economy...
1) The reason that many niche cars aren't selling is that most dealers are asking too much. Above MSRP... The exception is South Coast Mitsubishi because theirs are priced right.
2) Fuel prices... The X was marketed to a bigger market but rising fuel prices are cutting into their new market of non-EVO enthusiasts. The old generation enthusiasts didn't care about gas mileage. Old gen guys also think the "X" is a huge departure from traditional EVOs.
3) New Model or First year cars are historically plagued with issues, this one is no exception.
Here are some of which were posted earlier:

4) Choices - There are plenty of choices available in and near this cars price range i.e. with mark-ups 40k+ (BMW 135i and 335i/ New STi/ Non Z06 Corvette and many more)
5) 4G63 is gone.... However, used cars aren't moving either. Have you looked at the used car forums??? It is insane... Best time to buy used IMHO... But the prices people are asking are ridiculously out of touch there as well. Just make offers for what you are willing to pay and let them make the to decision pass up on a sale.
I could go on but you get the point. Many factors are effecting the poor sells but mostly a slowing economy.

the economy is ****. Exchange all your Dollars for Euros.
Test-drives are over-rated. I knew I wanted an X, I knew they weren't going to let me test-drive it, I bought the X no questions asked.
Guess I have no right to complain about little things but if something breaks because of a manufacturing defect you better believe I'm not going pay for it or sit by and let them tell me it's not their problem.

I bought my VIII and my IX without a test drive. Its a EVO I knew I wanted it.
