EVO X turbo lag?

Lots of newer engines use a combination of direct injection and small turbocharger to eliminate lag like the VW GTI or MS3. It's a nice stock setup but isn't the way to go for big power yet.

i wish there was a cheap fix for it. bolts ons can be expensive.

Get a tune, that will fix it a little, but it will also give you much more power...

there really isn't that much turbolag in the X.... I'd say maybe a half a second to a second of lag before you get full boost.

A supercharger / turbo combo is the best. Supercharger is belt driven, so u get Instant low end pwr then the turbo take over for top end.

Other contributors to lag besides the size of the turbo (and subsequent wheel size) are the size of the intercooler and whether it is a FMIC or a TMIC? Subi believes in TMIC clearly. A bit less efficient at cooling but everything is right there in a bundle.

I'd agree that the stock turbo on E85 is pretty amazing. Anyone complaining about lag on the X didn't test drive a Saab 9-3 ten years ago. It was scary making left-hand turns in those. Turbo cars today are *nothing* like that.

that's why they came out with the 2.3L 9-3 Viggen... talk about torque steer!
