I've driven my friends SMG M3 and was blown away by it. If i could have afforded it I would have sold my Evo and bought the M3. Slower from a stop, but on the highway that thing was amazing.

Both cars are very different, but since you don't even care about rwd and awd it makes me think you may just want a cool fast car. In that case I don't think it matters which one you get. No offense, but judging by your post I would recommend the BMW due to the nicer interior and exterior styling; it doesn't seem like you'll tap into an evo's potential or really appreciate its purpose.

i used to own a e46 and its a sick car stock with a tune and a exhaust it makes good numbers but unless you have the money to fix it up forget about it the parts are crazy expensive but if i had a choice i get a the m3 the x dont have a vast variety of parts out yet and it will be a while til you see competive pricing

I recently sold my E46 M3. I had it for a few years and it was an amazing car. Their value has fallen considerably and you can find one that is in great condition for the price of a new Evo X. It looks much better than an Evo and has a nicer interior for daily driving. The engine's not bad either, and it will take stock Evo's from a roll.

Overall M3's are a great compromise of luxury and sportiness. I might be ordering a new white E92 M3 coupe soon.

M3 = expensive as hell to mod, sounds like complete *** (worst exhaust and engine note EVER on a car), and the shifter is like rowing a boat but worse. Handles great and drives very well though, but everyone and their brother has one.

I dont miss mine.

It sounds really really bad, its actually really sad. Other than that, E46 M3 is one of my all time favorite M3! It also depends if you want to mod you car, if you do go for Evo X. With the M3, you will have more "class", so it really depends what you want from your money.

I personally don't know much about BMW, however the X feels like a true race car, stiff suspension, turbo charged, intercooled, and best of all it's an AWD rally rocket! I think the X's styling slaughters that of the M3, interior I'd say no but if you interested in staring at interior, I wouldn't suggest either of the two! Not to mention the X also has a 5 star crash test rating.

If you can afford the M3, might as well get the GTR. It's faster in both the straight away and corner. One of the British tester tested the GTR, Porsche GT3 and the M3. The M3 was way slower and after a few laps, the car lost it's brake and couldn't continue.

He said E46 M3. You can have that car for the same $$ as a X.....or less.
