Is this a good price for an X?
well i went to check one out and after talking, they wanted 745 a month with 2k down, and 15,500 for my lancer gts trade in, which has only 4100 miles, and navi. i lol'ed in his face. so after like a month, the guy started calling me all the time, and i told him if he wants me to buy the car, it has to be in the 400-500 range. so he calls me back a few days later and says they got it down to 525 a month with the 2k down and trade in, and they bumped up my trade in value of the lancer.
i told him thats still a little to high, and even though i can afford it, i wont have much money left over each month, and he said for me to come in, and we can talk some more, and try and get more for my trade in, and get a lower finance rate, so i could maybe get it in the 450-500 range which isnt bad.
the car is RR with the SSS package and aero kit, not sure what else it has, but i know it doesnt have navi. i do want it, but i hate driving a manual, i had one manual, a 97 eclipse, and it wasnt fun, it was annoying sometimes, and i really suck at driving a manual -lol-.
so is 450-500 a month for 72 months good?

That sounds so bad its sad. 44k for the car, 16k for your lancer, 2kdown, 6% interest, and 8% tax you get a 6 year payment for $525. That's pretty damn bad. You should take a look at a loan calculator before they ream you up the a$$ Calc
Take a look at this article before talking to them again it's pretty good. http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying...2/article.html It gives you some tips for dealing with salesmen, esspecialy the sleazy kind you are dealing with. Also you really need to bargain for the price of the car NOT the payments, they are just trying to trick you into getting the car for a higher price.
Also if you don't like driving manual I suggest you wait for the MR you get all the perks of the manual without any of the hassle.

well i owe like 12,500 on the car, so if they are giving me 17,500 for trade in, thats only 5000, plus my 2000, and 7% sales tax for Pa. and as for the MR, i just seen a thread on here that shows the MR will start at 38,500 or somewhere around there, i dont know if i can afford that, but by the time it comes out, i can have more saved up for a bigger down payment, plus im supposed to be getting 1800 back from my school for taxs, so i can put most of that down as well, but thanks for the advice so far, ill check out that link as well.

1) 6% interest on the purchase
2) $7000 down (trade plus cash)
3) 7% sales tax applied only to the price differential
4) 72 months at roughly $525/month
It backwards calculates to about a $36,650 initial purchase price. A lower interest rate will backwards calculate to a higher initial price, a higher interest rate will backwards calculate to a lower initial price.
It sounds like alot to me but I don't know how much the options go for. My X has no options.

First statement is this sounds like you are talking about a lease and not a purchase? Correct me if I'm wrong. I wasn't aware you could lease this vehicle my dealer would laugh you out the door (not being mean) for just mentioning lease in the same sentance as EVO X.
Next who in there right mind paid 44k for their car? Again not being mean but it sounds like a lot of people around here got taken for a ride. Never ever ever ever negotiate a monthly payment from which to purchase a car. You negotiate the price of the car not the amount of the payment per month. If you need to figure our what your payment will be go hit up a few banking websites look up there auto loan rates type the rate into there online calculator with the approximate purchase price of the vehicle and wala there is your payment. Please Please Please dont let the dealer do this for you. The will take your money like a school yard bully. Currently most Mitsu dealers in America have an adjusted mark up value on the car of 2-3k over MSRP. DONT PAY IT. This car is not flying off the lots like a 15k honda civic and unless a dealer is out of his mind he is not going to lose a sale over a mark up. I am speaking in general because not everyone has commone sense and maybe the next dude that comes along is a few nuggets shy of a full happy meal.
Not that this is anyone's business but for the sake of showing you how much a dealership will negotiate the price of this vehicle (not all results will be the same) but I purchased my EVO X on 3 Apr and paid invoice plus $750 which and the dealerships minimum profit line. Out the door TT&L, fully loaded with full aero package, dvd/navigation systems upgrades, sun and sound (or whatever the hell that package was called) I paid less than 39k.
Be careful when buying a car, never pay more than you can afford and never pay more than the car is worth. Dealers will negotiate on the price of this car if they say the will not...then go somewhere else. I contacted 3 dealers before buying this car and all of them ultimately ended up offering me invoice +750 to invoice
+1000.

The $44k comes from $37,800 + $2000 cash + $5000 trade = $44,800.
Backwards calculating from my post above, assuming 6% interest rate, put the car price at approximately $36,650.

No that's not the sale price. The actual sales price given the information you posted is impossible to calculate, it can only be estimated until you know what interest rate you are paying. Or you could even call the dealer and ask.
The $44k comes from $37,800 + $2000 cash + $5000 trade = $44,800.
