A story of the little evo that couldnt....
I can set my 1997 V8 Mustang Cobra to 60mph cruise control, 1250rpm in 5th gear and comfortably climb steep mountain inclines. Nothing special, just 300ft*lbs torque, the difference is that it's a 4.6L n/a engine. I suspect outside of boost at low rpm you have very little torque. You'd probably be fine at a similar incline if you were going at sufficient speed to be in boost (above 3k rpm?) Consider that a footnote for owning such special purpose car. No biggie.
I had an old 4 Runner that only had about a buck ten under the hood. Put it in low on the transfer case and you could pull almost anything that the frame could handle or it could walk up steep inclines with ease.
These posts really crack me up and confuse me.. Have you guys ever driven an AWD car before? Sorry to break the bad news, but it's natural to have to slip the clutch more in an AWD car.. You guys seriously need driving lessons if you're really having this much of a hard time driving it up hill.. WOW...

Amen to this one. Either:
A. You can't drive your car.
B. Something is seriously wrong with the car.
Being that it is a new car, my answer is A.
****, even a less than 100 hp manual Civic can do it.
And BTW people, the ramp was NOT 40 Degrees, shoot, even 30 degrees for that matter. Hell, even the banks at some of the more aggressive Nascar tracks are 30+ degrees. Good luck trying to WALK up that kind of slope.
Take you car out back to the parking garage late one night with no friends so you don't embarass yourself, and practice driving your car.
