New Evo X + 4G63?
New Evo X + 4G63?
Hey I was thinking wouldn't it be cool to see a evo x with a 4G63 swap? I think more people would have considered buying the car if mitsu would have kept the old engine.. What do you guys think?
Considering that the EVO X is running low 11's/ high 10's with the 4B11T, with only being out on the market for a few months.... no.
I'm looking forward to see what these X's are running next year at this time.

Hmmm... this would be interesting. The 4G63 is a proven engine and it would be cool to see it in an Evo X, especially if the 4B11 proves to be weaker at ultra high horsepower levels. The swap would also open up a massive amount of aftermarket parts (at least at first). But for the time being, the 4B11 is proving to be quite the engine in itself. At this point, swapping the 4G63 in would only add to what some consider a serious weight problem in the X.
thats true..4b11 has already hit 10s w/ stock turbo which is very impressive. but will it hold up with a bigger turbo,+boost?, that will have to wait and see. Either way i would still love to see someone do a 4G63 swap on the X.
The 4B11T is an aluminum engine, so it may be weaker than the 4G63, but Nissans SR20 was full aluminum and it could withstand over 500hp on stock internals. Like mentioned it'll be interesting to see what happens at uber high HP levels. For right now the 4B11T seems to be responding quite well to mods and running 11's with very light mods. For an VIII or IX to do the same you'd need TBE, intake, cams, upgraded turbo (for VIII at least), etc. So for a street driven car the 4B11 seems to be the way to go.
What I would like to see though is a 4B11 put in a VIII or IX

No it hasn't. The fastest stcok turbo is still a 11.9 I believe. Alot of these "records" being set have kinda been misleading if you don't read all 50 of the threads.
