My X helped me quit smoking

Yes it's true. Back in February I really wanted to get an X, but I couldn't justify the price to myself, since I had a working car. I commute about 55 minutes to work each day, and I never thought I could make the commute without smoking. But I really wanted an X, and for the first time in my life I was making enough money I could afford one. So I made the decision, I could buy an X but I had to quit smoking. Immediately I felt awesome about buying my car. Not only was I getting an X, but i was quitting smoking too. What a perfect plan.

So here I am, five months later. My last cigarette was the day the X came out, same day I got my car. It's been a long hard road, and many times I've wanted to give in. But every time I want a cigarette, I hop in my car, and go for a spin. It puts a grin on my face every time.

I honestly believe without my X I would not have been able to quit. The trigger to smoke while driving was too strong. The only way to get rid of it was to get rid of my old car.

Everyone I know, including my parents, were happy and proud of me for buying an EVO, even though it was a splurge, because it helped me quit.

Ah well, it looks like I finally found an addiction greater than cigarettes...X!

Good choice!

No offense to the smokers here, but I never saw the attraction to smoking, to get started anyway.

Maybe you should write in this story to Mitsu and they can use this as a different approach to sell some more Evo X's. "2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X...Slow and expensive...but helps prevent lung caner!"

That's awesome. I've got a buddy with the typical DSM that breaks all the time, I've tried to tell him how much money he'd have to put toward car parts lol.

I agree that smoking is pointless but many people get caught into it and its not that easy to quit. many people need a cigarette break in order to function or to calm them down and i know it sounds like bull$hyt but it is true and big ups to all of you for the will power to quit smoking

+1

Smoking is really hard to quit. It's easier for some, but for the most part it's pretty difficult. People who have never tried smoking would have a much harder time imagining it. I know I wish I never started.

I quit for over a year, but cause I gained weight I started again. I guess I was more worried about being superficial than my health.

Staying quit is the hard part. During stressful times you just want to have a smoke cause you know it will calm you down.

Good job OP!! It's a tough hurdle. I used to use my IX as my tool to hep with my anxiety and OCD.....man I kept that car clean. Hopefully I will do the same when I pick up my X!!!

You are giving the evo too much credit. I don't smoke in my evo either but unless you live in that thing, you can just as easily smoke when you're not in it. I know I do, cigarettes are amazing, I don't care what anyone says. J/K .... but really.

I was talking to some other evo owners at a meet a month ago and this discussion came up, we were all smoking in the parking lot and someone asked if we smoke in the evo and everyone laughed, "nope."

The smell still lingers, its not as bad, but I can always tell which cars are smokers even if they dont smoke in the car.....

Quit, put the all the money you would spend on cigaretts in a jar or savings account, buy a mod or two at the end of the month........motivation.......

Congrats on quitting, enjoy the X!
