MR revs three times before moving right after start
The slow takeoff is complained about by the BMW people with DCT. Rather than a problem, it appears to be a feature of twin-clutch trannies. I would bet that the engineers spent lots of time deciding about how long to slip the clutch on takeoff. Most daily drivers would not appreciate a DSG-like lurch on a slow start.
at least if it's electronically programmed there is hope for aftermarket reprogramming to eliminate the "feature." i wonder if there is still a delay in s-sport? those with MRs should try it and report back. if there is no delay we will know it's just because of the programming.
Ive driven a Ferrari 360 Modena, and new F430.. Both have the auto-manual.. Granted it's only a single clutch as far as I know.. But it gets pretty annoying as well in stop and go traffic.. It stays in neutral while stopped, then u step on the gas, and it revs up really high while slipping the clutch.. You can adjust your foot to the amount of slippage, but it's still annoying.. Then when it switches gears it feels like the engine shuts off, so the tranny can switch for you.. Like a bigtime bog down.. But if you're really on it, it switches fast naturally.. And we're talkin 130K plus cars here.. The SST is much better from all the raves, so I'll take my MR in the PB please..
